Hey ladies I could use some help..

Hey ladies I could use some help..

So i just got engaged-originally we planned on a summer of 2010 wedding bc of financial reasons.

My parents decided to pay for the hall- so we would just have to pay for the other stuff like limos, flowers, dj, videographer, photographer.

We might possibly move the wedding up to 2009 depending on if we could save enough $ in a year.

What is the average total price of all that extra stuff? I dont want to book the wedding until I know I can definately save the money!

Thanks ladies!

Everything varies greatly
From what we looked at, DJ's can range from $800-$3500
Photographers from $1500 to 8K.
Haven't looked at flowers yet, but they can range from $1500 - the sky.
We are estimating to go middle-range and end up around 10K for dj, photo/video and flowers.
Our DJ is $1200, Photo/Video about 5K, and we are hoping to keep flowers at around 2K.
Hope that helps.

A general rule of thumb for wedding expenses, is that the reception hall is typically about 50% of the total budget.

I believe the rest of it, on average, breaks down like this:

10% Photography & Videography
10% Attire (dress, hair/makeup, accessories, tuxedo)
10% Music (less if you have a DJ)
10% Flowers
6% Stationery (save the dates, invites, calligraphy, stamps, etc.)
4% Extras

I never actually sat down to compare our actual expenses with this .... but we did use it as a guideline when booking our vendors and for the most part we found it to be accurate.

Honestly, you can really go CRAZY!! The prices def. do vary from vendor to vendor and it depends on what your looking for. You have to find a budget that works for you. If your goal is to get married in 2009 write down about how much you and FH can put away towards the wedding every month and then see how much $ you have to put towards each thing. What means the most to you? Photography? DJ? Flowers? Find out where you don't mind cutting corners and where you want to spend a little extra. You can honestly have an amazingly beautiful wedding on any budget, you just have to do some research and thats what LIWeddings is for!! I'm def. a bride on a budget so if you need any help feel free to FM me. Good luck planning!!!

In total on other vendors we probably spent about 10k
With all the extra stuff, BP gifts, dress, accessories, tux, tips, things we wanted...about 3k

Our parents also agreed to pay for the hall, we're paying for everything else. We're spending about 3k on the photographer because it was very important to us. We're going to go inexpensive for the videographer below 2k if its possible, just to have it on video is fine. Our dj (is probably the other expensive thing we're going to 'splurge' on) and florist we haven't booked. We aren't using limos since we're having the ceremony at fox hollow and we're taking pictures before hand. I'm DIYing the invites, and save the dates and my dress was under 1000. 10K-16K possibly.
Welcome to LIW!!

We are figuring about 12,000 for all that stuff. We are paying a little over a thousand for a DJ, and a little over a thousand for limos. The photographer/video is actually a family relative but I'm pretty sure the average for the two are about 6-7 thousand. And then flowers, which will be completely dependent on you and how many you want. You could make it very simple, and it could be pretty low or you could go all out and spend thousands and thousands on flowers. Plus don't forget all the little things such as invitations, your dress and accessories, favors, any other decorations you may want, etc.. Sometimes I feel like the list could go on and on Good luck!
