HHmmmmm Confused..

One of FH brothers is joining the coast guard. Hes in the bridal party as a GM. He asked me today if he should wear his uniform to the wedding, which i believe is blue. Im not sure how these things go but since the guys are wearing brown tuxes and the girls are wearing burnt orange, I think blue would look very odd mixed in. I told him I would prefer he wear a tux, but what is proper. Are they supposed to wear there uniform?

well I think if you were haveing a military themed wedding then it's fine. But you're husband is not wearing a military uniform, so it doesn't make sense for him to wear one.

I would tell him no.

I'd tell him that's a no... he's going to look incredibly out of place.. i've never heard of groomsmen wearing teir uniforms unless they all have them. the groom yes.. but not just one groomsmen..

I have seen it go both ways.....one of my gm is in the navy and one in the marines.....that would make for some interesting pics for me I have seen some dressed in uniform for the church and change when they get to the reception.....choice is yours, but it sounds like him asking to wear it was his way of lettin gyou know it would mean a lot to him ???

only if you are having a military wedding should he wear his uniform. otherwise they wear what the other guys wear. (i spoke to a friend whose FH is in the service)

i would say yes if it was his wedding, i think that's how it usually works but i think i would tell him no, it's not necessary he will stand out too much

I think its a matter of preference. I dont think they have to wear it, but is it as formal as wearing a tux if they want to wear it.

I agree with having him wear the tux with the other guys.

My BIL is in the army and is wearing his blues to the church then has a wardrobe change to a suit for the reception. That way we can take pics both ways.

Personally I think the uniforms are hot!! My sister(MOH) does too, she will be really happy he wore it. I also think its more of a sense of pride for those in the service. They want to display their love for their country.

i think if it was his wedding definitly....your FH is not in the service and it is not a military wedding so i do not think it is proper for him to stand out at your wedding UNLESS it is what you want and in that case GO FOR IT....
