ideally nassau, but if we have to go far east thats ok, our guests will have a reason to take a long weekend for my sunday wedding haha

I only looked at two out east...East Wind and Giorgio's. I ended up booking with Giorgio's. It's beautiful in IMO. East Wind is also nice...you arent the only wedding..but they have 2 locations on the property that are very separate so you feel as if you are the only wedding there.

In Nassau...I thought Westbury Manor was beautidul. I only ruled it out b/c they wouldnt give me enough space for the cocktail hr and I didnt want 1/2 my guests standing. But I dont think they do that to everyone. In n at New Hyde Park is AMAZING -- but a bit pricey. If you have the budget...it's a really great location. My sister had her recption at Jericho Terrace 2 yrs ago and it was a great wedding. It's not really my style...but the wedding was great...so was the food!

my cousin actually recommended that we look into east wind! she went to a wedding there and LOVED it.
i thought about checking giorgios out too because the website looked sooooo amazing...do you know how long the drive is from the city roughly?

Re: hi

i graduated from stony brook university, and i always thought the drive to school from my house was anywhere from 1.5-2 hours...but im accounting for traffic...and giorgios i know is further than that...so i was thinking like 2.5 hours? or am i overexaggerating now? haha

your 're right. exit 72. maybe less than 1 1/2 if you are speeding and no traffic : ) The distance was a concern for my parents so we ended up booking a Sat nigth rather than the original Friday night plan. If you get married in the winter months you can probably stay within your budget. I know they offer really good deals during the winter. Spring, Summer and Fall will be higher - probably between $130-$160 pp.

Oh, nice, i graduated from there too! (for degree #2 at least)

Might be closer to 2hrs+? Let me think, I know it takes about an hour 20min to take the train from nyc to ronkonkoma...drive's about 15min away from there to shirley...then i think about another 1/2 hr to get to giorgio's...so just over 2 hrs maybe? sorry, can only really do it in sections, haven't made that whole trip

kim i graduated in 2004 in psychology and womens studies :)

thanks for the tip traci, our budget is kind of like a guideline, if we really fell in love with the place we would be willing to pay more, but obviously this place would have to be amazing haha which im sure is the case for many planning brides too...
did you take any photos from your visits to giorgios? just wondering

if you are looking at reception halls there is a magazine called Destination I think and it has a huge section on nassau weddings It was soooo much help to me when I started looking. I could lie in bed and look at what each hall offered and then left a post it to look at online later. Made the process actually very relaxing
