Hi all!

My name is Lauren and I just got engaged on Saturday I'm so excited. We are definitely planning to get married in Aug but we obv don't have a venue yet so the date is up in the air. My FH is going to be transferred to Dallas with his job the beginning of Sept. I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone!I'm a little overwhelmed so I'll prob have lots of q's

Congratulations! You really don't have much time to plan so I would suggest booking your venue ASAP especially if you have a specific venue in mind. I booked my venue for my 6/20/14 wedding in February 2013 and they didn't have many June dates available at that time. Good luck with your planning!

Yes def look at venues asap. I booked in July 2013 for august 2014 and wanted a Friday night and there were only 2 Fridays left. BUT people do cancel so you may be able to get a good deal on a day that's left.

I would dress shop soon too they need to be ordered asap.

Thanks girls- I am planning to go tomorrow and check out a few places with my mom. I want to go to East Wind, Watermill and Windows on the Lake. Anyone have any experience with those venues? UGH I just feel so behind in everything

Hi all! - Long Island Weddings

Welcome!! This site is so great! At every step of my planning I was able to come on here and find answers/recommendations for everything I needed! The biggest upside to planning a wedding in a short period of time is that you can usually get a great deal on your venue if someone recently canceled and they are trying to fill that date. Don't stress out too much (if it's possible!), my sister got engaged in an August and had her wedding that Decemeber so it is definitely doable, and her wedding was great!!

Enjoy the next few months, they are going to fly by! And utilize this site whenever possible!

Congrats! I booked my venue in jan 2014 for June 2014, it can be done. You probably won't get your first choice of vendors, but you will be able to negotiate a lot since its a short timeframe. Start with venue and church and then move on to makeup/hair. The more popular vendors (read talented and affordable) book up quickly.

Don't stress. My BFF planned her wedding in 5 months. It can def be done. Use these boards for research and to help find great vendors. Def go with the 'biggies' first. Venue, photo, flowers.... Also your dress. You want to make sure there's enough time to order it. Have fun and good luck!
