Hi everyone! I am new to this site

I recently got engaged and am beginning to plan. I am soooooo excited but I already feel a little overwhelmed but from looking at this site, it seems like there is a lot of great advice. So, my first question is if anyone knows a good, reasonably priced place to have an engagement party.

Congrats! I recently just got engaged also and have been looking for a place to have my engagement party. I live in Suffolk county on the south shore so any of the places that I suggest will be around there.

- Fanelli's in Lindenhurst - They have a catering room with a separate entrance that they say holds up to 100 people. The room is a little small and I didn't feel very confident that 100 people could actually fit comfortably.

- Blue Lagoon in West Babylon - It is a restaurant with a separate room. They can accommodate I think over 100 people but if you have a smaller party they have a room divider. I have been there before for a party and the food is good.

- Marconi Manor in Islip - The room has been recently redone the woman informed us and they offer a ton of food options. The price is really good. The negative for me was that they are lodges so the hallways are decorated accordingly. However, the room itself was very pretty.

- Marconi Manor in Babylon - This was their 2nd location we visited. The decor and room are much plainer but it is right across from Argyle Lake which I liked.

- Galaxy in Lindenhurst - They have four separate rooms which hold different amounts of people. I think they can accommodate a party of up to 60 to a party of up to 300. Each room has its own theme but they are all nice. The price is really good also. This place I felt was a little more fancier than the others so if you are looking for something more low-key I wouldn't recommend.

- Candlelight Cabaret in Amityville - I have not visited this place yet but I spoke with the man who books the parties. He seems very nice and the prices are good. From what the gentleman told me in the evening bands come in and play in the bar section of the place. I thought it was a nice idea that after the official engagement party was over any of the guests who still wanted to hang out would be able to go over to the other section and listen to the music. Like I said though I haven't seen the place so I am not sure what is looks like.
