You asked about centerpieces? Actually, when I was previously engaged (LOOOONG STORY) I had bought these really neat porcelain sand castle tea light holders from Party Lite Candles. They are absolutely gorgeous and not cheesy at all. They stand about 10-12 inches tall and have porcelain seashells molded into the sides. They are kind of an off white or cream color and the shells have faint traces of pastel pinks and blues in them.
I really wanted to use them and get my money's worth, so I was excited to find that the tables at my catering hall are long instead of circular. I am sticking one on each end of the table and using flowers in the middle.
The flowers we are using are white stargazer lillies with just a hint of hot pink in the middle. Also, we are using white roses and this white flower that is called an anenome (not sure if I spelled that right) and looks like a sea anenome that you find in the ocean. My florist is going to dip the tips of the white roses in a tealy blue color and then use a glitter spray on the flowers to make them sparkly. She is also going to put real seashells in the arrangement.
She showed me a sample and I was blown away. It was exactly what I was looking for. The shop that I am using is called April Flowers. Has anyone ever used them before? They are a really small shop, but were the only florist I talked to with ideas I actually liked. They customize everything to meet your needs. Also, they are only charging me $1,500, while the other florists were absolutely outrageous.
I went to James Crest Florist (I think that is the correct name). The man I talked to was sooooo rude to me.

I was practically in tears when I left there. He made me feel that I was being too cheap and should not expect much for my price range. I would have been willing to spend a little more, but he made me feel like a real heel. He told me the pics I brought of flowers I liked looked like funeral arrangements and 'they don't do funerals'. He also told me that the colors of flowers in one of the pics I showed him did not really go well together. I thought they looked beautiful! He wanted to basically give me a cookie cutter flower arrangement and really did not listen to me at all. The other florists were better, but he was the worst by far and also the most expensive to boot.
I am having problems incorporating my colors, which are aquamarine and pearl. My shade of blue is more blue than green but falls somewhere between 80s teal and royal blue. It is a tough color to find. I wanted to get an overlay for the tables in that color with matching bows for the chairs and do white chair covers with the blue bows. I am finding out how pricey linens are and am not so sure I want to spend that kind of money.
I do not want white flowers and cream sandcastles on a white tablecloth. It needs some blue in there somewhere. I was thinking about getting some of those colored glass pebbles that people stick in candle arrangements and sprinkling them all over the tables. I can get different shades of blues and greens to give the table more color. Also, I am going to give my florist some seashells and she is going to spray them with glitter and scatter them on the tables as well. If we do the seaglass/pebbles we may not do the sparkle shells. That might be overkill.
As far as favors go, I considered giving out candy, but I think it is always nice to give guests something that they can keep forever and to somehow personalize it with your names and wedding date. I was looking for something beachy, yet elegant, and very cheap. I found these awesome coastal elegance votive candles. They are white with satin rope around them with shells hanging off of the rope. They come in beautiful white organza bags with pearls on them.
I know some people think candles are overdone, but I really had a problem finding anything beachy that was not cheap looking. These look so elegant and will be pretty on the tables. You cannot personalize them, so I am doing the bubbles with a personalized ribbon around them in our color. Then I am going to hot glue a small shell to the middle.
When I was planning my previous wedding I found a lady in Lancaster that suggested making chocolate treasure chests and filling them with white chocolate seashells, edible pearls, and gold foil chocolate coins. It is such a cute idea, but very expensive. I may use it for my rehearsal dinner or some other function of the wedding where there are less people to get them for.
OOPS! I forgot to log in and am on my mom's computer. This is really beach princess.
