Hi I'm New!

Original post by beachprincess

Hi all! I am new to this site. I have been using it for a while to plan my wedding, but never participated in the chat room. My mom seems to get a big kick out of talking to all of you, so I thought I would introduce myself and give it a whirl. I have actually been engaged for one year now on August 26th. My fiance proposed at the beach at sunset in Ocean City, Maryland. I am from Lancaster, Pennsylvania and my fiance lives in my hometown, but is originally from Kings Park. We are getting married at Chateau La Mer in Lindenhurst on June 21, 2008. I am very excited because I love Long Island and I had to have a wedding on the water. We are doing the whole beach theme. Anyone else doing a beach theme wedding? Anyone else getting married in LI that is from out of state? To those girls who live in Long Island, you are so LUCKY! It is gorgeous and there is so much more to do there than in my hometown. It truly is the wedding capital of the world! Good luck and congrats to all the 08 brides out there!!!

Re: Hi I'm New!

For anybody following my thread, I posted some pics of ideas for beach weddings, most of which I am using. Just a word of CAUTION!!! Always get samples of favors before you buy them!!!!!!!!! I got a box of samples yesterday in the mail and was sooo disappointed.

The coastal votive candles I mentioned as being so elegant were pieces of junk in person. It looked like a five year old glued the seashells on from the glue that was everywhere. Also, do not buy the silver seashell place card holders. They look pretty, but arrived all broken!

On the other hand, I was pleasantly surprised by the adirondack chair tealight holder. In the ad it said it was made of polyresin. I think that means a type of plastic. I did not think a plastic chair made to look like wood sounded too good; however, upon receiving it, I absolutely love it! It looks and feels like wood! They are a little pricey, but I guess when it comes to favors, you get what you pay for.

The gel candles with the shells were cute, but looked a little like something you would buy at the dollar store.

BUYER BEWARE!!!

Hi! Cool! Did you read my whole thing? Definitely buy samples of your favors first. Did you get yours yet? I am still deciding after getting the duds in the mail. Do you have any good beach decor ideas?

Re: Hi I'm New!

my fbil and fsil got married at the eden resort....the big room right in the middle of the hotel that the rooms overlooked....it was a nice room, but it was soooo big and they paid ny prices for a pa wedding.....FH's cousin is getting married outside at a place that has a dome????? not sure of the name of it, but all I know it is covered, but outdoors hmmm?!?! I actually got some stuff for the wedding at the Litiz fair two weeks ago....I LOVE THAT FAIR.....they always have such great stuff...I get a lot of holiday shopping done there. I actually live close by to CLM funny how we almost live opposite lives hahaha.
