Hi! I'm new

I am Ned short for Nedelyn. My fiancé proposed on 8/9/10. I'm planning a July 2012 wedding. I'm leaning towards July 4, 2012. I know a bit untraditional with a weekday wedding, but I like the idea of it always being a holiday. I'm only worry that no one will show up, it's so difficult to decide.....:) the goal is to have date and a RH by the end of January since now I'm done with school and have the time to focus on the planning.

Congrats and welcome!! I wanted to also do July 4th but FH's family didnt agree with me so we moved it up to the week before. If you want it do it!!

I agree with the other girls. You have to do what works for FH and you. You are never going to please everyone.

When I first started planning I thought that there was no way I would have a wedding on any night besides Saturday,. Well when I went to the places and saw the price difference with a Friday night I decided that I was going with a Friday night,. Yes I wish that I won the lottery and I could have it on Saturday night but FH and I are paying for the wedding and I do not want to put us into debt for a 5 hour party! (although I think it is going to be an amazing 5 hour party)

YES!! i agree with Mara! do what is best for both of you!! if people really want to be there, they will do whatever they can to be there with you on your special day!
I wanted Saturday too but now I am having our wedding on a Sunday...regardless, I am still happy and trust people will be there no matter what

Congrats and welcome! Def do w/e you and FH want but I would also think about how many guests would be able to travel for a wednesday wedding w/ work and all. If you send out save the dates def send them out SUPER early, especially for those w/ children who have school the next day, HW, etc. Welcome and happy planning!

Hi!

Welcome and congrats!

Our wedding is the Thursday before Memorial day. We got a GREAT deal, and vendors are willing to give us deals too because of the day!

My family was not thrilled with the choice, but since we are paying for it, we couldn't afford what we wanted on a Saturday, and we figure most people are off for the holiday so they can either make it an extended holiday....or they can decide if they want to not come at all. Those who want to be there will be no matter what day/holiday it is!

We did however tell all of our OOT family/friends who we know for sure will be invited as soon as we booked it that way they have plenty of time to plan! And we will be sending official save the dates a year before.

Welcome and congrats! ITA with everything that's been said! It's all about what works for both of you in celebrating your big day. There will always be someone with an opinion about something.

Whatever day you decide on I'm sure it will be fantastic! One thing I was thinking though, maybe try to get your guarantee down a little since there is a chance more than the normal amount of people will be RSVPing no because of the holiday. I would hate to see you get stuck paying for plates that aren't being eaten.

Any ideas on RHs?

Congrats on your engagement and welcome to LIW! How did he propose?

As far as your date is concerned, you have to do what works for you and your FH. I agree with the girls though... send out your STD's ahead of time. The people who you want at your wedding will be there.
