Hi Ladies! - I'm back from New Orleans
I'm back. I missed you guys. I survived the Hurricane. The City of New Orleans was evacuated and we were locked in the hotel for 2 days. There was a curfew imposed on the city and no one was allowed out. I didn't know this but New Orleans is below sea level so if the hurricane hit us we would have been under 8-10 foot of water. The hotel had to evacuate us and we moved to another hotel for 2 days and then were able to move back to our original hotel. The hotel was great though. They provided free meals and really took care of us. At one point they issued everyone water and a flashlight
I was so scared and just wanted to come home. But we were lucky and bad bad Ivan went east and hit Alabama instead. So we were able to come home on Saturday. When I got off the plane I was so happy to be back in NY. I was like a tourist yelling 'I Love NY!' It was funny. But before and after the hurricane we had a blast. We went to many jazz and blues clubs. We had great food. I tried jambalaya and po boys and bread pudding. YUMMY! We also went to the aquarium and the IMAX theatre for a 3D movie. That was fun. And thanks to Azad I had many hand grenades (cocktails) and boy were those suckers strong. Also had pina coladas made with 151. Yikes. That was fun. Went on Bourbon and saw some flashers and got some beads myself. But not from flashing...haha. People just throw them at you even if you don't flash. We went to the french market and did some shopping. Also went to the famous Cafe Du Monde and had chicory coffee and beignets (french doughnuts) and that was YUMMY.
We were able to go to Emeril's Delmonico on Friday night and dinner was incredible. It was such a treat after being locked in the hotel for 2 days.
We took the street car to the Garden District to look at all the gorgeous houses. I also was able to get my spa treatments in. That was fantastic. I had a magnolia bath and massage. There was a huge jacuzzi tub filled with magnolias and surrounded by rose petals and candles. It was so heavenly after all the drama with the hurricane. And the massage therapist was wonderful. The spa was gorgeous and the staff was so sweet.
We ate at many great restaurants. The seafood there is delicious. I like trying new food so that was really fun. And we really just walked around to see everything. There are so many things to do there. I one thing I didn't like are the bums. They try to talk to you and ask you questions. I like the bums in NY they don't bother you they only hold up signs...haha. Also people warned me that it smells and it does. It guess from being below sea level or something. But yuck! I couldn't wait to go back to the hotel to a clean fresh smelling place. So I doubt I will ever go back there again. But it was a very crazy and interesting experience.
So what did I miss? How is everyone?

Re: Hi Ladies! - I'm back from New Orleans
Thanks Azad! They have some funny drink names in New Orleans. We had a hand granade, hurricane (isn't it ironic don't ya think), horny gator, blow j#b, and a tropical itch. It was cute the tropical itch came with a plastic back scratcher.I also downloaded a bunch of coupons from neworleansonline.com and we saved money on meals and attractions. I am all about coupons to save money. This site also has information about food, tours, attractions, and maps.
Check out the site. It is a great one for information. Start your research 3 years in advance...hehe. You will be fully prepared!
