First of all, I want to say hello! My FH and I live in Maryland and are planning our wedding on LI (where FH is from) for April of 2008.
I am not familiar with LI, well other then how to get there, LOL. My FH has been a tremendous help and has even traveled with me to look at venues! We have settled on Land's End in Sayville and are excited!!!
But....it is so hard to plan a wedding from 250 miles away. I have been a lurker on here and have started making appointments with florist, limos, etc. So, let me know who you suggest...it would be apprechiated!!
Second, I was raised by my single mom who I would love to have a 'special moment' with at the reception, but I haven't heard of any songs that would be nice for mom and daughter to share a moment with each other.....
Thanks so much...I know that I will get to know many of you on here!

Re: Hi Ladies...a couple of suggestions needed...
Congrats! Lands End is one of my favorite places..great choice!
For mom....'Isn't She Lovely?' is a fun upbeat song to dance to your mom with.
As for vendors, I recommend Imagine Studios for photo. I also liked Artisan, Creative Compositions and Sherwood Triart. For video I love Wild Rose. For flowers, I booked Verbena Designs. I thought Keyth at Loven Oven was great too. I also recommend All-Star for limos. They were great at my friend's wedding. Good luck!

Welcome! I have the same issue with a single mom too -- thanks for the recommendations ladies. As for vendors, I second the recommendation for Verbena Designs. Ariana Studios also has some pretty good packages, which they can be flexible with regarding your needs. Feel free to ask as many questions, everyone here is really helpful.

Hi ladies....my daughter is planning her wedding from Alaska for this October. The 4 hr time difference makes it very hard for her so I've been helping her every step of the way. I guess she's lucky to have a mom on LI. As for a song...I was a single mom for a long time and I will be dancing to 'Best thing that ever happened to me'.... Good luck!

Welcome and congrats! I am planning from Raleigh, NC....so I feel your pain! Though, everything is pretty much finished, so it can be done!! I am using Vinny from High Voltage for my DJ and The Flower Barn for my florist. Both great vendors to check out.
