High or Low Centerpieces?

Original post by Bridex100

Are you using high or low centerpieces?

I want to add a poll but am not very liweddings savvy.

Are you 'recyling' any flowers from the ceremony to the reception?

It is not necessarily less expensive to do high versus low. It truly depends on your florist and the flowers you use. We used high CPs because the ceilings in the ballroom were high and the room would have looked empty. We saw 4 florists, told each one we wanted high CPs and they varied greatly in price with a $3000 differential between thehighest and the lowest. We used neither florist. We did recycle two arrangements from our ceremony to the reception and we had the waitstaff bundle flowers for eachlady to take home. The florist provided the tissue paper.

The arrangements at the back of the aisle were reused:

I haven't decided on my cp yet but I think that when you walk into a reception with the high cp's it is really breath takeing. I also love the the mood that candles set, I have an idea of what i want, just need to price it.

I went all out with our CPs, but DH & I only had 12 guest tables. We may have elected for a less expensive option if we were to have something like 20 or so guest tables.

we're doing low centerpieces.

We're having two large vases filled with long stemmed roses on the altar of the church. They will each have water tubes on them. Then, those will be brought to the reception, and handed to each lady as she enters the reception.

Also, the aisle pew bow with roses will be tied to the backs of mine and my FH's chairs.

We are doing low centerpieces as of now but i have the option to do half and half if i want to.

I am not doing any decorations at the church, i am getting married right after xmas so there will be plenty of decorations already there.

I keep going back and forth between high and low. I have no decision making ability left.

Re: High or Low Centerpieces?

I had initially wanted high centerpieces, then I went to a wedding that had them and realized it wasn't for me. They were GORGEOUS, and to be honest I think they look amazing in pictures, and we didn't have any problems seeing across the table. My only thought was, when you're sitting at the table, you don't really see them at least that was the case with these because they were on pedestals, so we were just looking at the bottom of the bowl and a metal stand. I guess it all depends on the style of the CP.

Anyway, we decided to go with a low, candle centerpiece. It's really what FH has wanted from the beginning, and after looking around I decided that I actually like candles better than flowers (for me), and since I'm not a big flower person to begin with I'd rather save the money on CPs and spend it somewhere else. It'll be a diy with stuff from Michael's or AC Moore. We'll probably throw a few real flower petals in the mix.

Low. Im going to do the whole floating candles and flower thing. It depends on how high the ceilings are in your hall. Im getting married at Miller place, and the ceilings are low. So it only makes sense for me

I wanted low centerpieces! I personally don't like when there are high centerpieces and the flowers get in my way of talking to other people on the other side of the table. We are doing low centerpieces with votives around them.

We are doing a variety...4 different centerpieces actually. Some will be high pedestals, some will be low square vases, some will be low cylinders in varying heights, and some will be a cluster of pillar candles on a bed of rose petals. Clearly, I couldn't decide either and FH and I decided we really liked how it looked when it was varied. Two of my samples are in my album. Good luck!
