So I'm starting to think about centerpieces, and I can't decide between high vs low centerpieces in general (haven't gotten to color yet).
Assuming that cost is not a factor, why do you like or not like high centerpieces? And why do you like or not like low centerpieces?
Thanks!

Thank you ladies! You bring up a good point that the centerpieces should fit in with the RH space...I really hadn't considered that

I personally like high centerpieces , love the look. BUT it does depend on the room ... if your reception is in a very decorated/ busy room, then low looks nicer IMO

high centerpieces look more elegant but also its double the price..
if money isnt a factor go with high ones~

FH loves High centerpieces..that is one of the wedding planning details that he had a strong opinion.
I really like high centerpices...I guess I like a more dramatic room

I love high CP's. I love they way they look when you walk into a room.

Not sure why, I just always liked low CPs better. Maybe because you can see them while sitting at the table, but they don't affect people's ability to see each other. JMO.

I like high because they really fill up the room. Also, if you pick a CP with a skinny base...so you can still see around it.
Flowers are one area we wanted to cut down on. I was able to do a high CP but one that is cost effective...we are going with 2 ft glass vase with orchids submerged in water. Very modern look, but also very elegant! See my albums for ideas!

Re: High vs Low centerpieces - help
i was planning on doing all high because my RH has cathedral windows but all the florists we checked out told us, it would not add any sort of dimension to the room and to do high and then some with medium height.. and i agree, so cost was not an issue initially because we were just looking, but in aesthetic sense, the high and low, or even high and medium would look better.. especially if you have about 40 tables or so..

Re: High vs Low centerpieces - help
i chose low because I was at a few weddings where we had to break pieces off the centerpieces because they were poking everybody in the head!!! And also, a lot of times people take them off the table and put them on the floor. But the main reason was so people could actually take them home and re-use them at their houses!!!

That's pretty funny...were they branches? I was at a wedding where the flowers were hanging off the sides and I found it annoying.

Since it seems like you are doing the twilight reception, a mix of both high and low CP might be nice.
I didn't have any preference for the CPs, but FH knows that my favorite flowers are Calla Lillies and usually they look better in a high CP.

I, personally, am not a big fan of high centerpieces. I find it distracting when trying to speak to others at the table.

Does your hall have high ceilings? if they are high it may look empty with low ones., just a thought
