Hi...new to the boards!

My name is Sheila. I just got engaged about 3 weeks ago. Its so exciting but also overwhelming!I have already booked my reception hall (Fox Hollow) and church but as far as vendors go, I am at a loss! I checked out a few florists and out of all of them I really liked Burton's. They have so much to choose from and the price is the same regardless of the kind of flowers you choose.

As far as Photographer and DJ can you ladies suggest anyone for an inexpensive price? We are on a budget and I really want to stick to it. I am meeting with Duet tomorrow night but I'm afraid they're going to be out of our price range. I also went to a bridal expo last night and I couldnt believe that they're already calling my house and emailing me! Is there a way to get that to stop?

Aside from all that....This website is so informative and I'm really happy to have found it!

i have not been to any bridal expos and havent really given my email address out so luckily ive avoided the vendor thing.

next time someone calls tell them that they were on your list of people to make appointments with but that you are turned off by the fact that they need to call and harass people for business, so you will no longer consider them. tell them your friends feel the same way. maybe if enough people do that it will have an impact.

Congrats and welcome! I think a lot of us fell into the trap at a bridal expo and mistakenly gave out our correct contact info. In a few weeks, the calls will slow down, don't worry.

You can email a lot of the vendors and ask them for a quote. I personally found that smaller vendors had lower prices (working out of their homes = much lower cost).

You can definitely negotiate the prices so be sure to ask vendors if they can add in something extra or work with you on the price. I didn't really know you could do that at the beginning and wish I had known.

My mom got me one of the wedding planning binders (they sell them in book stores) and it has been super helpful in keeping me organized.

As far as DJs go we've only looked at 2 so far but FM was definitely the more affordable one. A bunch of brides on here are using them - we still haven't decided yet.

Glenmar Studios was also the most reasonable photographer we looked at (package was less than $3k.)

I decided to go with Duet for photo/video. They have several packages, so I'm sure they will work around your budget!

We used Burton's and loved them as well!! As for a photographer, I know a lot of girls on here are using Duet or Pataken. We used artistic images and thought he was pretty reasonable. $3500 for 2 photographers, but we also booked them in 06. I think his prices may have gone up a little. Our DJ was Variety Music. Loved tehm. We actually saw them at a bridal show and thought they were great. They were about $1200. HTH! Have fun planning!

YEAH! I'm a fox hollow bride.
i'm booked with Sherwood Triat. They are a house vendor for the fox hollow, but pricey...thats what we wanted to spend our money on beacuse we knew they would last a lifetime.

I'm also booked with LI Sound, who I LOVE! they are definitely reasonably priced. FM me if you want price quotes.

As for Duet, I went with Duet and out of the photographer's I went with they were the best priced. They also have different pkgs.
