Hint--Meet with florist owners for best price!!

When you meet with a florist, request to meet with the owner. The owner is able to give you rock bottom prices, whereas the other workers are not. You will definately get a cheaper price if you meet with someone 'in charge'.
ETA....managers can usually give the better price too. And make sure to tell them it is out of your range or ask if they 'can do any better'

Don't the employees usually consult with the owner anyway on the price? I thought that's what they do when they walk away and say they will be right back with a price.

Not necessarily. It seems that they are just figuring out the prices. I went to one place where I met with the manager and he immediately dropped down the price for us just when we asked if he could do better. BUT at the second florist, the woman gave me a quote that was too high and said she couldnt go any lower. We said we got a better quote from the other place (and she knew we had met with the manager-becuase she specifically asked and said that was why)) and she said she personally couldnt go any lower, but she would check with the boss. If we hadnt of asked, she never would have done this. As my mom put it, when she used to work for the phone company she was allowed to give money back up to a certain amount (florist workers are allowed to take a certain amt off) but if someone requested more, she had to check with the manager or boss. Basically, if you can cut out the middle man, you can get better prices because he is allowed to give a better discount. At least thats my experience with the whole florist thing:))

Look into Designs by Rose - they ARE the owners so if you tell them you got a better deal elsewhere -- they'll match the price and sometimes even do better

they've been AWESOME to work with so far

Is it hard to request the owner??? Do most florists let you do that???

I would try to find out who the managers or owners are first and then request them by name if possible, rather than just asking for the owners.
