I don't really like the sound of an organ... so I'm thinking about hiring some string players to play at the church ceremony..... how much do they usually run for cost?

Re: Hiring string players for church?
We hired a string trio....they're hs students from fh's old high school......fh spoke with his old music teacher who recommended a few people. We heard them and they're pretty good....and only like $50 pp!! So maybe consider contacting a local hs or college music group?

that is a good idea. I will have to try a local high school.
Another dumb question- they have to be there for the rehearsal to know when to play each song right?? lol! never thought about these things before!!

Vintage String Quartet (4 pc) was running a special. I'm not sure if it's still going or not but check it out. I went to see them play and they were great.

I used to play the violin at weddings. No they do not attendthe RD. You sit with them and go over thesong list and tell them when you want it played.

Actually my string people are asking to 'get a bite at the cocktail hour' and its in the contract ... lol
I thought it was cute, and I am into feeding people, so I don't mind.
I got a duo, violin and cello, 750 for 2 hours. I thought it was a reasonable splurge, as it first impression my guests will have when they first arrive to wedding.
