So FH's twin sister is getting married in July and we had her shower yesterday. She's having her two 10-year-old cousins in the wedding as Jr. BMs... they're very cute and very excited.
As we were all saying our goodbyes, she comes over to me to say that we'll have to pick out really pretty dresses for our (mine and FH's) wedding.
Woops! I just smiled and gave her a hug.... Hopefully it won't come up again, but I told FMIL to handle that one in case it does. I feel so bad, but we're not having ANY children in the wedding (and if I had it my way, no children would even be AT the wedding... but I lost that battle a looong time ago).
Has anyone else had to deal with a child specifically (I know we've had our fair share of adult friends thinking they are in the wedding party) thinking they were going to be included as a FG/RB/JR. BM??

Re: His little cousin thinks she's in the wedding!
Thats a tough situation. I gave up with the battle and have the Jrs in the wedding because I didnt want to hurt any feelings.
Are you having a mass or a ceremony. If you have a mass, you can always have them bring up the gifts that way they still feel a part of the wedding

Re: His little cousin thinks she's in the wedding!
when my family found out i was engaged they started to talk about ALL of my nieces (7 of them) being flower girls! FH has a daughter and we wanted her to have that special job as flower girl since this is a big day for her too. I think one of my brothers is still annoyed that his kids are not in my wedding. They wanted all seven of them, plus FH's daughter and they even wanted my 1 1/2 year old nephew to be pulled in a wagon! i put a stop to that from the beginning and stuck with the small bridal party that WE wanted!

We're having just the ceremony.
I thought of asking them to maybe hand out the programs, but when I saw them hand out some travel info for my wedding at the end of the shower yesterday (it was chaos) I tossed that idea REAL fast!

I think you handling it perfectly- it was definately a great idea to ask your FMIL to handle it.
Cherish's idea was great, maybe you can make them like an honorary helper for the day- kids eat that kind of stuff up

FH Brothers Stepdaughter thought she was going to be in it too. She is 10 and calls Aunt and Uncle but we were not even thinking about her being in it. When she asked I said sorry hunnie but no. If she (your cousin) brings it up again I would say ' We can go pick out a dress for you to wear as a guest at our wedding' or is that silly. Not sure good luck!

You can ask them to help seat the guests, since they are old enough. You can ask one to seat the bride's guests and the other to seat the groom's guests. I think you handled it well. They are old enough to be told that they heard wrong. I have a daughter that will be 10 in a few weeks. They are old enough to talk honestly to them. Don't give in though, if that is not what you want..
