historic (and affordable) RH venues - help please!

Original post by kerianno

Hi! Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for an affordable historic RH venue for an Oct 2013 wedding. So far we've looked into Thatched Cottage (love it!), and Bourne Mansion (too expensive!). Anyone know of any other reasonably priced historic venues? Thanks!

The Woodlands was the most affordable of the mansions I went to see. I only went to see ones in Nassau County. FM me if you want Oct 2013 quotes.

++ is plus service fee and tax. This is standard for most venues with an exception of a few...

So as a general rule add 20% to the price and than 8.25(?)% sales tax.

Feel free to ask the venue to calculate the service fee and tax for you. Mine was more than happy to do this and this way we were able to know what we could afford to add on to our menu.

Floral Terrace is awesome, but they have a 200 minimum.

No they don't...I am having 150 as my minimum.

Also, not to gloat but Floral terrace and Sand Castle DO NOT charge the 20% service fee all other halls do so we saved almost $6000!! That fee is so ridiculous everywhere.

I believe DeServesky for a friday night starts at about 180pp++ and I think the site fee is roughly $3,000.

I've been to a wedding there and it was beautiful but I remeber my friend saying it was very pricey! I was also at a wedding at thatched cottage and it was fantastic!!

Bourne Brides - did you have a problem with the acoustics with your band/DJ? I hear this is a big problem and was wondering what to do

Well that's good to hear! I'm also biased toward Thatched Cottage. Out of the places I looked at, I felt like we got the best deal there and they've been awesome to work with so far!

West Sayville Country Club is a historic mansion that can hold up to 200 people, so your party size would be perfect. There is also an area for tables and eating with french doors opening up to the dance floor so that guests can comfortable sit and talk while the dj is playing for those dancing. It is right on the water as well. They are very reasonably priced and the manager Steve is amazing to work with. Definitely worth checking out.

We were quoted for $150++ and $2,500 site fee.

ETA: If you or your fiancé are NYIT alum you do get a discount. I think it's 20% or 30%? Not sure though.

from what i've heard that was from when the organ was there.. now that they took the organ out, it is better. however, i did talk to my dj about this (bravura), and they have worked at the bourne before and said they will be bringing the appropriate equipment to make sure there is no echo (i think they have a separate sound guy or something)
