I'm in the process of finding a venue for my May 2012 wedding .. I like Westbury Manor a lot, but am still looking around for historic mansions/sites-- does anyone have any suggestions? Preferably the venue will be decently priced (no ridiculous site fees!), and have rentals on site-- so I wouldn't have to bring everything in from the outside. I'm looking at Orchard Hill, Coe Hill at the Planting Fields Arboretum, Nassau County Museum of Art.. basically large estates with nice surroundings. Any suggestions? Or any price information on the aforementioned places?? Thanks so much!

Re: Historic LI sites/mansions for my wedding?
Lessings had a few Vanderbilt era mansion that they cater to. There are site fees but I am not sure how much they are. I know pricing is varied depending on location and time of year/day.
It is definitely worth looking into.

i;m getting married at the Woodlands in Woodbury...it's located on the Oyster Bay golf course...1920's gold coast mansion, great food, pieces imported in from European castles...no site fee, a tad pricier than i wanted, but you won't be having a typical wedding with this place...check it out. ask for margaret, she's amazing!

I looked into the Nassau County Museum of Art too, it is so beautiful, but for me it was just way out of my budget. They use a really reputable catering company who is known for great food, and I'm not sure what your budget is, but when it was all said and done it was going to be close to 200 pp, which I just couldn't do. HTH!
