HM

Long story short but the time share my mom was giving us is probably not going to work out so now i am fed up and have decided that we are probably going to have to pay for our hm ourselves

so if you don't mind sharing - where are you staying, how much are you paying, and what does that include?

I don't want to do a cruise or sandels and i want somewhere in caribbean no Hawaii

Thanks girls

Re: HM

Would you consider a cruise? I think some of the cruise lines are offering specials now, so the pricing, even for suites isn't too bad.

do you think $176 pp per day for all inclusive is a lot? how many are waiting to go on there hm. Like if i get married on a sun and go on that fri after?

Re: HM

I honestly don't think 176 per day is expensive. Where are you looking? We are getting married on a saturday night and leaving on Monday morning.

I really want to stay at the occidental in aruba - but with my mom's timeshare it is going to be a pita - we need to pay for the all inclusive and can only check in on a fri, sat, or sun

I don't see anything wrong with waiting until Friday to leave. You should go to a travel agent and see if they could get you better deals/track the deals.

well if i do this it would be with my mom's timeshare - if i do it through an agent i will have to pay a room fee per night as well

I'm staying at Excellence Punta Cana. We booked the ocean view honeymoon suite. It comes with a large terrace/balcony with a outside Jacauzi. If you mention that it's your honeymoon they throw in a complimentary HM package that includes romantic dinner on beach, breakfast in bed one morning, turn down service, wine, fruit basket, and a surprise rose petal filled tub. The resort has a spa, horseback riding, zip lining, a club and casino, nightly shows, etc. We are paying under 2500, without flights. Good luck and make sure you get everything you want out of your HM when deciding.

Edited to say the Excellence is all inclusive and that they have two locations in Mexico as well if you don't want DR.

I dont think it's alot b/c it will include all your meals and drinks. You could easily spend $100 or more on a dinner alone. Does it also include activities?

We're taking two weeks off and doing five for the HM and the rest at home to get settled, although I may try and sneak in 2 extra days, lol. They have a 20% sale right now if you book the 5 days. Since I booked, I see the price for the HM suite went up 76 and I only booked two weeks ago. If you go to the website and put in the days you want, it will give you the price with the 20% off up front.

you might change your mind! I felt the same way when we went to Hawaii. The thought of having fish near me didnt sound fun...plus I am a crappy swimmer. But I took one of those noodle things (yes, I am like a 5 yr old) and had the greatest time :)

Rita- fh and i went two aruba 2 summers ago and stayed at the occidental....it was in august and we payed about 1900 each...so i def think in march you can get the occidental at a reasonable rate....and who cares if you have to wait a few days before you leave?!....the place is awesome!!!!!

Re: HM

Did you try searching a diff timeshare company or www.redweek.com? Its a timeshare site....people rent out the weeks they don't use. you may be able to score Hawaii. Whatever exchange company she uses, RCI or Interval International... they have BONUS VACATIONS or EXTRA VACATIONS that may work for you.

I may use a timeshare for our HM...not sure yet. We want Hawaii for 5-7 days - 2 islands and then fly to Tahiti and cruise there. Tahiti is super expensive...so they say cruising will actually save you money with food, etc.

We're planning on Australia for our HM, so I'm really no help. But my parents took my sister and I to Atlantis in the Bahamas about 9 years ago and it was gorgeous! Not sure about pricing though.
