FI and I keep changing our minds about where we want to go on our HM. We're going back and forth between a trip to Europe (London, Paris, Rome & Florence), which would involve a lot a lot of traveling, day trips, etc.....or a trip to somewhere in the Carribean where we can lounge and be lazy for 2 weeks. I've been to the Carribean before, but never Europe, but at the same time I can understand how it might not be too cool to be so active right after the wedding...
Any advice? Thanks!

Re: HM: Carribean VS Europe???
Both are wonderful. I'm doing London though, because that's more exciting to me personally. The beach is nice, but there's so much to do and see in Europe!
Good luck!

Re: HM: Carribean VS Europe???
It depends what you like to do. If you want to lounge around, do light sightseeing, and have a more laid back trip I suggest the Carribean. But if you want to see as much as you can and don't mind packing and unpacking many times go for Europe.
Personally I just want to relax, since it will be the only vacation that I go on next year. So we are doing the Carribean.
ETA: There are so many islands within the Carribean that so you can have a different experience that a preivous trip. Also, if you are planning on a 2 week trip stay on one island for 7 days then go to another for the rest of trip.

Re: HM: Carribean VS Europe???
we were going to do a 16 day Italian trip for our HM, but decided against it.. or should I say, we were talked out of it.. AFter all of this planning, the last thing I wanted to do was to be on someone else's schedule or itinerary.. I can't wait to go there some time soon though..

we're doing the Caribbean also instead of Europe. My thinking is like Marcella's - after all this planning, etc I really don't want to be on a schedule - I want to relax with my DH.

Unfortunately it's how our world is right now... alot of Europeans are NOT fans of Americans right now. I wouldn't want you to run into any problems. I'd stick with the Carribbean.

Re: HM: Carribean VS Europe???
Personally, I think you can have both. I think it is possible to go to Europe AND lounge a bit.
As I see it, I will only want a few days of lounging before I will start to get antsy and want to move around and go places. FH and I want to go to Italy and I figure we can plan some Amalfi Coast lounging and then some Florence/Rome/Naples sightseeing.

Re: HM: Carribean VS Europe???
I am so torn!
I have always wanted to go to Europe...FI has been to Italy a few times, which is why we were planning to do a multi-country tour, but I am really hesitant to do such a 'busy' vacation so soon after the wedding. As a rule we don't usually do too much on our vacations....I think ideally I'd like to have the first week of the HM to be a very relaxed lazy time, and the second week to be the sightseeing, traveling around trip. I guess I can do that in either Europe or the Carribean, I am just having so much trouble deciding!!!!!!!!!!

Boogie, we stayed on Capri for 5 days and did the lounging thing and then went to Rome for the sightseeing hting. It was so worth it.

I'd rather relax on the beach then plan all the siteseeing in Europe. You can do Europe on your 1 year anniversary, but after all the planning, I think a nice, lazy relaxing beach honeymoon sounds soooo nice.

I like the idea of mixing it up - a few days lazing around on an Italian, Greek, French, Spanish or Portuguese beach, then maybe staying in the same country for more touristy stuff.

Re: HM: Carribean VS Europe???
This is a tough one.
We are going to Italy for our honeymoon. But both of us have done the touristy places in Italy and are going to relax and lounge around the vacation spots. But we also know we would be bored of two weeks of just lounging so with Italy we can get up and walk around the piazzas and eat great food. It is so romantic there!! But, I would say if you have never been to Italy there is alot to see and you really have to think about if you want to be up and walking around all the time. But you can go to the Amalfi Coast and tour around there and still relax, but I wouldn't go to too many big citys - there is just too much to see. I guess it depends what kind of honeymoon you want??

I wanted to do that.. but TOdd insisted that we should do ALL the major cities PLUS visit his family in Bari.. that's why it was just too dang much.. I would really love to go there though..

i agree with shawl...europe isn't just about sight-seeing, they have great beaches also like the algarve in portugal, the french riviera, or even any of the greek isles...i myself am choosing between portugal and greece...at least once i get bored with the beach scene, i can experience a little bit of the country's culture
