HM: Carribean VS Europe???

Original post by BoogieDownBride

FI and I keep changing our minds about where we want to go on our HM. We're going back and forth between a trip to Europe (London, Paris, Rome & Florence), which would involve a lot a lot of traveling, day trips, etc.....or a trip to somewhere in the Carribean where we can lounge and be lazy for 2 weeks. I've been to the Carribean before, but never Europe, but at the same time I can understand how it might not be too cool to be so active right after the wedding...

Any advice? Thanks!

GO TO EUROPE!!!! I know I am in the minority here, but europe has SO much to offer....and so mane amazing places to explore....
I have been to Islands before and as much as I love lounging on the beach....for me Europe was 10x better.

We spent our honeymoon in Florence (1 week), Tremezzo on Lake Como (1 week) and in Lugano, Switzerland (4 days).

It was truley amazing and we planned the entire thing on our own (I should say on MY own lol), no travel agent at all....

All it takes is a little research!

Good Luck deciding....either way, it will be amazing!

Re: HM: Carribean VS Europe???

My hubby and I decided to do a European honeymoon. We got married last February and went to London and Paris for 10 days. It was wonderful. My husband does not like to be on a strict schedule so we did a tour that gave you a ton of free time. The purpose of our tour company was to get you to the hotels in London and Paris and you got a brief 1/2 day tour of the city you were in. The rest of the time, it was up to you what tours you wanted to go on (we paid extra for those tours) but most of the time we explored the cities on our own. It was great because we got to control how busy our days were but we always had time to take our afternoon naps and sleep to a decent hour in the morning.

isopodi, Would you mind me asking which tour company you used for your HM? That really does sound like an ideal way to travel in Europe!!

I'm going to Italy and I plan on doing both the relaxing part and the traveling part. This is defiantely possible if you are taking a long honeymoon. While I love lying around on the beach I think I will get a little antsie for 2 weeks. FI and I are spending 6 nights at the Amalfi Coast relaxing and then 8 nights doing the traveling running around (Rome, Venice, Florence).

I'd like to suggest an All- Inclusive Caribbean HM. After all of the hard work of preparing for the wedding, you may just want to be pampered and worried-free.

Europe... I love it, but you may be focused on site-seeing rather than relaxing. To me, rushing to visit this monument and that statute is really tiring. And although everything will be beautiful, but some how one comes back from a trip like that just as tired as when they left.

Ultimately, it's really a matter of preference.
