HM Cruise-Which Cruise Line

Well FH & I are considering two options for our HM....Both are Southern Caribbean Cruises....There is a dilemma though on the departure date..>We are getting married on a Friday night & our reception does not end until 1AM...Here are the two options

1) Princess Cruise Line-Golden Princess
Departure on April 1st 11PM in San Juan Puerto Rico

Or

2) Royal Caribbean-Adventurer of the Seas
Departure on April 2 10PM in San Juan

Both cruises have different islands that they visit....I absolutely wanted to go see Aruba which is covered in the RCL cruise...The one thing that I am hesitant is, I have been on Princess before & loved it...Never did RCL...Can not one please share their experiences on both & help us decide on HM!

TIA

hi kissy,
i went on a royal caribbean cruise for my honeymoon and we loved it!!! we left from san juan. after the cruise, we stayed 3 days in puerto rico, it was great! our boat left at 10pm from san juan. royal carribean will blow princess away. my husband was on princess a couple of years ago and loved royal caribbean so much more. i would definately suggest royal carribean.

BTW: my receptions was at floral terrace also, my family is still talking about it! they were great!

I've been on the RCL cruise you mentioned - it was loaded with honeymooners and they got the greatest treatment, from the best dining tables (right on the window) to free champagne!
Good luck with everything!

oh, and the newlywed game on the ship was hilarious!

I just got back from my honeymoon and we took a cruise from San Juan on Royal
Caribbean Adventure of the Seas to St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Aruba, Curacao. We loved it. The ship was tremendous and very elegant. Food was delicious and service was outstanding. Get a balcony stateroom at least. We saw two shows in the theatre. Excellent. So many bars and restaurants. I have never been on Princess cruise line but I think that ship was in front of us when we ported. It did look nice but I think Adventure of the Seas is larger.

I have been on three RC cruises and I have found them to be the best in terms of activities, food and service. You can't go wrong with them!

the suites are not much bigger.... all your really getting is a living room type area.

we dont plan being in the room... we did get a balcony room though... i think the balcony has a loveseat in it...i could be wrong..im looking forward to balcony. i dont think its worth the money for the upgrade to suites

Thanks everyone for their input....I know the suites are probably a waste of $$ just because there is not much time to be spent in there! I definately want the balcony!

Now FH has to make the decision which to do!

Re: HM Cruise-Which Cruise Line

I will NEVER go on a Princess Cruise again. I got locked in a bathroom that was broken they put no sign on it and someone else got locked in about an hour before and they did nothing! A med student got me out with a butterknife while I was stuck in the stall hysterically crying . I am now VERY claustrophobic. They did nothing to allievate the problem except give us a very small amount of on board credit. We cancelled our next cruise with them.. we had booked it before this fiasco. I was not going to give them anymore of our hard earned money! The cruise was beautiful, but when our safety is put at stake it is not worth it. Just my opinion.

We did the RC/Empress cruise out of SanJuan and loved it. It's great that the ship leaves so late in the evening so you can take a flight at decent hour.

We stayed 4 days on the cruise and 4 days at the Hilton Caribe in Old San Juan for our HM. It was fabulous!

One small thing that bugged me though: The bed in the Jr. Suite is actually 2 twins pushed together, so they kept sliding apart at night. It was kind of annoying! I don't know if this is the same setup as on Adventurer.. but you might want to ask.

Hope you have a FABULOUS time whatever you decide.

I just had lunch today with a woman I work with who was on this cruise ship last week. She has cruised before, and said she was really disappointed with this ship. She said it was run down, and the service wasn't that great. She did mention that the food was amazing though. She also mentioned that she was disappointed with the ports they went to (but cruise lines change those, so it may not be going to the same places in April)

She said that she'll stick with RC cruises from now on....

Hope that helps some...
