Re: HM Itinerary
It looks good - but I would look at the attractions and sights at each place and make sure you are allotting enough time to see everything that you'd want to see.
I'm glad I am not the only one going on a 3 wk honeymoon, I thought we were crazy!

Wahoo! I'm going to Europe too. I agree...you should look at all the things you want to do in each place and make sure you have enough time.

I think so- I've been to most of these places before. Lived in Rome for a year!

Re: HM Itinerary
Looks like a great itinerary except you might be super tired after the day trip to Pompei. I absolutely loved Capri and Sorrento - if you have the chance to stay a few days.
Assisi is amazing and is really chill so I think that is a good place to visit. Also, there is another day trip from Rome I would recommend. It's called Bracciano and has an amazing restaurant called Al Fresco. The have an amazing dish called Gnocchi del pera (gnocchi with pear) Super delicious !! Anyway, ,the town is more famous for hosting the wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes .
Lastly, Sardegna is amazing and highly recommend renting a car/motorino to check out various places. Also, cosider spending more time in Madrid because there is soooo much to do- great restaurants, museums and nightlife!

Re: HM Itinerary
Look good, I agree that you you make be really packing things into the last four days. THere is sooo much to see in Rome. I did the same thing and took the day trip to Naples and Pompeii. The train took us about an hour and a half but it's a lot of walking!. HTH!

Re: HM Itinerary
a lot of these place, especially the day trips you mentioned are not close to each other at all. like from Rome to Naples. Have you considered how you will be getting to these places?

Re: HM Itinerary
How are you getting to Pompeii from Rome? When I went I did it as a day trip from Naples.

Re: HM Itinerary
Actually, the day trips are fairly reasonable. The furthest is Pompeii, and we will not take the train. We will book a private car guide from Rome.
Assissi (which I love- huge Giotto fan!) And Orvieto aren't far from Rome at all.
Like I said- I lived in Rome for a year and traveled extensively. I just wonder if this is too much and I should drop a few things for FH's sake. If it were me, we'd be doing more!

Re: HM Itinerary
it sounds amazing, we are also going to Barcelona and Italy during our HM along with several other Mediterranean countries in our cruise, however, when we looked into the private cars they were over $1K from Rome to anywhere else. Have you found them for cheaper?

Re: HM Itinerary
and it doesn't sound like too much at all! i would be doing more, like we already are! are you two meaning for this to be a relaxing HM or more of a sightseeing trip? are you stopping at the beach or doing other relaxing things in between to break it up a bit?

Re: HM Itinerary
We've been seeing small trips (like up to 6 peeps) for about $100- $120 euro pp. Same to Cinqueterre from Florence.
And yes- Sardinia is a beach break! We decided to switch Sardinia and Florence. We will take the ferry over and have a break there. Rome can be pretty intense!
The good thing is that we have connections in Rome and Florence, so our lodging for both cities will be super reasonable. I'm upgrading a Tad from backpacking year!

my only concern would be travelling with your luggage. from my experience, travelling with a large suitcase through the streets of these major cities (where most streets are cobblestone) is NOT fun. some subways/trains dont have elevators so you'll be carrying your bags up and down flights of stairs every day.
are you doing this on your own or is it a bus tour?
unless you plan on backpacking it, if it were me, i would be concerned about luggage IMO. it gets tiring after two or three changes of city, let alone 3 weeks worth of changes.

No- we will use backpacks. I say no to luggage and cobblestone streets! And no AC, and no elevators...I just mean we are upgrading on lodging and sightseeing expendatures
