ok not really quantity vs quality, but I noticed a lot of people on the site who have booked HM for a week or more at these gorgeous 5 star hotels. This got me thinking, if you had a choice between a shorter HM at a 5 star amazing hotel or a longer HM at a 3 (or maybe low level 4) star still very nice hotel, what would you choose?
Part of me wants to splurge on the amazing hotel I will never be able to afford again, and part of me wants to splurge and have a longer vacation than I will ever be able to have again......

Re: HM Poll: Quantity vs Quality?
We went with somewhere in the middle - we def. went with some upgrades and were still staying a full week - i think that it depends on whats important to you and what you like to do - When we go away we just chill by the pool go out to eat and what not if you in to adventure and going on tours and what not - i would rather stay longer and have just an ok place to say

We are staying at a very nice hotel (not five star) that has a great location in Cabo San Lucas. We rather have a longer trip than a shorter first class one. we have been fortunate to travel a lot, so we knew it did not make much of a difference to us if we stayed at a five star and flew first class or flew coach and stayed at a really nice hotel.

we chose a longer honeymoon however we are staying at a 5star hotel in mexico. we compromised where we were going. we were going to go to hawaii but we would have had to stay a shorter amount of time and not in the best hotels.

Perhaps see what you can do about upgrades or any special qualities to certain hotels. I guess it would depend on where you will be vacationing. If your honeymoon is jam-packed with sight-seeing and excursions, I would opt to make the trip longer with a less extravagant hotel. If you plan on, um, staying in or relaxing for most of it, 5 star hotel is the way to go.

We kind of mixed it up. Since we are going really far (12 hr plane ride) and island hopping we knew we had to do at least 10 days. So, we split our time between 3 islands and saved the best accomodations and most expensive island for last!
If you go somewhere for a week or 10 days definitely consider staying the first half in a regular room and upgrading for the last few nights to the HM suite or bungalow!

We did somewhere in the middle. We're going to Aruba (during peak season!) for 8 nights, 9 days. We're staying at the Wyndham, which is 4 stars, in a deluxe room. We decided that we will be staying in some but also want to just lounge by the pool. In the end, we were thrilled with everything we picked.

Re: HM Poll: Quantity vs Quality?
We haven't booked yet, but I'm not really needing a 5 star hotel. I'd love the service and beautiful architecture, but honestly I don't think it really matters. On our HM we're both gonna be on Cloud 9 and the hotel itself isn't what we're gonna be thinking about!! I'd rather stay on our HM longer and make the most of it, than stay at a hotel with options and services that we're not going to end up using anyway!!
