Im so upset and feel like crying right now. FH and I are ona very strict budget, Im talking like $1500 for the both of us & figured a cruise would be the best thing. We are getting married in June but FH doesnt want to go to the Caribbean that time a year so we were going to wait. Anyway, I lost my job and was thinking that its probably in our best interest to do something right after the wedding so that I can explain to my new employer that I will need the time off right from the start. FH is not so much of a 'Vacation' person. I cant explain it, he just doesnt care for the whole tropical relaxation thing.....Anyway, He's not helping me at ALL and Im really upset about it. I mentioned maybe going to PR or something for just like 3 or 4 days and (I hope I dont offend anyone when I say this...)he's like 'Im not going anywhere thats predominantly Spanish. Im not going PR. Im not going to Mexico....blah,blah,blah. I know theres not much to say but if anyone can offer ANY suggestions at all It would be very much appreciated. Im sorry.

Re: HM Stress
If you want to go somewhere affordable you can try Dominican Republic...It is all Hispanic, but its very affordable and everyone at the resort I am sure speak English. I have never been there but I have been to several islands and everyone speaks English and they even take US Dollars. So it is an affordable island option. If you are going to stray away from the beach, why not go up to somewhere like Boston or somewhere like upstate and go hiking or go somewhere out west and find a nice place in the mountains....there are lots of non-beach ideas and locations.

Re: HM Stress
what about taking that money and just not even going away and spending sometime in the Hamptons, staying in NYC and doing some activities like romantic dinners, broadway shows, shopping, ur budget is very limited, perhaps you can delay your Honeymoon and save up a lil first...

FH & I are also on a very tight budget. We are thinking of going to Niagara Falls right after we get married and then going to Ireland for our first anniversary.

What about Key West or another location in Florida? If you stay at the right hotel it can feel tropical-ish. Esp. in Miami.

Re: HM Stress
you could try florida maybe. key west or one of the barrier islands like sanibel on the west coast. it is a beautiful place and that time of year is not expensive at all.
montauk is also a really nice place to stay. very relaxing and the beaches are beautiful. HTH

Maybe try to go somewhere more local for a mini-moon and then go on another honeymoon for your one year anniversary. There are plenty of nice places that you can drive to (Newport, RI, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket.) Or, you can go to California (Sonoma is supposed to be really nice).

Re: HM Stress
You could look into a cruise going north instead of south. I know they have cruises that go into New England and up to Canada. Check into something like that.

Check out USairways Vacations. They have pretty good packages from time to time. My FH went to Las Vegas for 5 Days last summer for about $900. Really nice room and we had a great time! Plus you can take the extra $600 for gambling and maybe turn it into $6000. :). Also places like the Poconos are nice and romantic, you could go anywhere in th NorthEast in June and the weather will be pretty nice. Good Luck!

Don't stress! There are so many wonderful options in the US to choose from, and June is a great month for weather throughout the country.
I'd suggest checking out the JetBlue & Southwest websites for cheap flight ideas to start with. You can often find deals around $99 for the west coast which is wonderful. San Diego, San Francisco, Vegas- all so fun. Then there's the Poconos, the Outerbanks of the Carolinas, Ocean City, Martha's Vinyard, Nantucket, Newport RI... all are great for 3-4 day trips.
Good Luck!

Re: HM Stress
What about Charleston, SC? It has a lot of history and guy-stuff, but also has awesome shopping and beaches that aren't as crowded as places like Myrtle Beach. Excellent food too! Good luck--I'm sure you'll find someplace that is afforadble and fun for both of you!

Re: HM Stress
Hurricane season starts from june-sept for the caribbean. however, the prices are much cheaper due to it being low tourist season. The weather there is so unpredictable, it can rain in the morning then be really sunny during the afternoon. How about going to the bahamas then?
