HM vaccinations... (Traci are you out there??)

Original post by GR2010

Sooooooooo Traci got me hooked on South Africa as a HM. When I went to my doctor today I asked her what vaccinations I would need before travelling to South Africa.... Her answer is as follows:

MMR - Measles/Mumps/Rubella (I'm good on this one)
DPT - diphtheria/pertussis/tetanus (check on this one too)

But alsoooooooooo

Hep A
Hep B
Malaria
Rabies
Typhoid

And those last two I can't even get from my doctor I have to go to a travel medicine clinic.

So my smart as FH suggested we go to the Animal Lodge at Disney and it will be just like the safari I want to go on in South Africa but I won't need 80 vaccines to do it

There's actually a clinic in midtown that specializes in providing all the necessary vaccines for travelling. They have a big map, and you point out all the places you are going to, and they'll give you a list of necessary vaccines and recco'd / optional vaccines.

A coworker went before her s. africa trip and said it was relatively quick and easy. i think it's called Traveler's Medical Service. You have to pay cash though and make an appt.

i think you need to bring me home a baby lion

I'll bring home two. One for Jack and one for Darwin. I am sure lions incur fewer medical bills than Schnauzers.

There is a lion park in Johannesburg where you can hold baby lion cubs. I'm so upset our itinerary doesnt include any time in Johannesburg. I was wondering if I had time between flights to go! LOL
