HMR - Places in Mexico that wont be full of spring breakers in March?

Ok, this is my 100th post about my HM. FH and I have literally looked all around the world. We had settled on Egypt but then the bombing last week changed our mind... we looked at West Africa, Thaliand, Fiji...etc etc etc...

Our current project is Mexico. We'd like to go all-inclusive. Are there resort areas in Mexico that don't attract spring breakers? We dont want to be surrounded by barfing Spring Breakers on our HM.

Also, we don't want to do Cancun or Riviera Maya.

Let me know if you have any opinions...

Cabo?

I was thinking of that . Part of me worries that it might be the west coast spring-breakers equivalent to Cancun? But I might be making that up completely

Cabo is awesome! I went there about 2 years ago. It prob. won't be that full of Spring breakers b/c its a little more expensive than Cancun, etc. I would highly reccomend it! There are a lot of secluded hotels/resorts and the shopping and activities are spectacular. FM me if you want any details.

My husb and I went to cancun in march for our HM. We stayed at Dreams... i think even in cancun and maya riviera, if you stay at a resonably 'upscale' place, you will not run into spring breakers. we played golf, lounged, went to the spa.....

I would recm'd going to an 'adults only' resort. Cabo is the 'new' Cancun!!!! More and more spring-breakers are heading there!

I went to Cancun a few years back and stayed at the Moon Palace. It is an absolutely beautiful resort and there weren't many spring breakers there. The reason is because it is not on the hotel strip. It's is about 20 minutes away from it. You can stay at the Moon Palace and play to all of the Palace resorts. Which is great b/c it's transportation to the hotel strip where they have other Palace resorts. I would def suggest looking into this. Then you hand FH can go to the ruins and see the stuff there (I'm not into that, but it's ok). Good luck and I would definitely suggest you look into Moon Palace. Try to stay away from the strip b/c even if your resort doesn't have spring breakers, they can come onto your beach and stuff. Good Luck.

I think Mexico in general will be pretty packed during Spring Break as do most of the Caribbean Islands. You should def check with a travel agent very familiar with this. Also check TripAdvisor.com. They can prob give you a lot of advice. Great site.

Mexico is tought that time of year bc of all the spring breakers. One tip I can give you is, if you stay at a pricey all-inclusive resort you won't be dealing too much with them. The spring breakers can't typically afford the high-end all inclusive resorts like Palace, Riu, Intercontinental and Secrets.

IMO if you decided on Egypt I say stick with it. Don't let the bombing that happened last week change your mind. I work in the travel industry and run a lot of tours in Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, ect. Security in these regions is so tight that the chances of something happening in Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, ect are so unlikely. Egypt is INCREDIBLE!!!

How about Ixtapa? It's less known but has some fancy resorts. I don't know how it would be over Spring Break, but I would imagine people would flock to Cancun and Cozumel over Ixtapa.

UGH, just typed this email and it didn't post so here we go again...

I just was vacationing in Puerto Vallarta at club Vellas Vallarta (all inclusive) It was GREAT, delicions food, beautiful room and lots of activities to do outside of resort if you get tired of sipping cervesas by the pool. I don't see it being a big spring break place, I think it is too fancy for that, but if you want, FM me with your email address and I can send you my photo album, I tried to upload one photo from the view from our room and I think that is what crashed it...

Playa del Carmen - Royal Hidaway.

It is beautiful and I would def. say toooo expensive for spring breakers. It is an all inclusive resort, clean, great food, great service, romantic, spacious, has a beautiful spa etc.

I was there last April, FM if you want any additional info.

Secrets Excellence in Riviera Maya (near Cancun)--adutls only and very nice

Aventura Spa Palace and Moon Palace are adults only--and you won't find spring breakers there. The Aventura Spa palace is outside of cancun--and is more secluded and intimate.

cozumel is not as bad for spring break either.

Also--check out Acapulco the Fairmont Princess--another very elegant hotel that won't be chock full of spring breakers at all.

I know you said that you don't want to go tp Riviera Maya but we stayed in Akumul and it was so quiet in March. It's 60 miles south of Cancun.

We stayed at the all inclusive resort Grand Oasis Riviera Maya

Oh that is GREAT -I assume RCI? Well if so, you get great discounts on all the activities - mega cheap - a dolphin swim was like $40! Normally is is around 150! They will love it there! Be sure to tell them to do the 'Rythems of the Night' tour. It is a romantic boat ride to a private island - candles all over the island, no electricity...have dinner on the beach.. no kids allowed.
