Hello ladies, I have a question for you. When did your child start to hold his/her bottle all by themself?
My son is 7 1/2 months now and hasn't really tried to hold the bottle on his own. Sometimes he puts his hands on it but he doesn't support it at all. I've been thinking about trying out some new thinner/smaller bottles to see if that makes a difference. He was using the Playtex Ventaire's, now he's back to using the Avent's. If your baby does hold their bottle on their own, what type of bottle are you using?
I know babies develop at different rates but one of the little boys in daycare who is 3 weeks older than my son has been holding his own bottle for 2 months now! I'm sure that's earlier than most babies but it has made me think.
[I started to introduce the sippy cup w/handles last month. He holds it well but likes to play with it more than he likes me to help him drink from it.]
Thanks!

Re: Holding bottle on their own
Rebecca will be 8 months on the 18th. She will occassionaly hold her bottle. Once she notices I am holding it she lets go. However, if I let it fall she will grab it and put it back in her mouth. She's getting the hang of it slowly. Daycare has been working with her too. She drank 5 ounces of a six ounce bottle last week. She plays with her sippy cup too. It shouldn't be long before they do it on their own. Just keep working on it!

Kiera has held her own bottle for a long time now. I think she was about 4 months or so when she started. She doesn't do it every time but she will do it almost every time. But she was very early with it.

Re: Holding bottle on their own
Emily started holding her own bottle at about six and half months. I use the Dr. Brown bottles. I would put it in her mouth and when she started sucking, I'd start to let go. She then would grab the bottle and feed herself in her highchair. Now she is a pro. She holds it all the time. I love it!!
