Is anyone having a holiday weekend wedding? We were thinking of doing the Sunday of Memorial Day, but I have to see if there is still a price differece. I never wanted to be one of those brides that people complain about 'ruining their 3 day weekend' but, I decided if we do the holiday weekend wedding, then those who want to be there, will be there :)

Exactly. Anyone who wants to be there will be. We were thinking of getting married that weekend too because that is our dating anniversary and engagement anniversary but January was less expensive.

One of my best friends is getting married Labor day weekend next year, and I think its great! I know I don't usually go away for long weekend holidays so its no big deal for me. But as the previous person said, the important people will be there no matter what!

Re: Holiday Weekend Wedding?
It doesn't bother me because I feel as though if I know I have a friend's wedding on that weekend, I just won't plan to do anything. But I have heard co-workers or friends complain of long weekend weddings, so it always stuck out in my mind. But I think I am realizing, that people will always find something to complain about!
Is a Sunday of a long weekend still a big price break over a Sat night?

When we were looking into it one of the halls told me that they treat it as if it were a Saturday night because everyone has the next day off. I would still look into it though because every place is different.

Thats what I was thinking- they probably raise the price on those Sundays. I will have to see what they say when I finally get my butt to some reception halls!!

Re: Holiday Weekend Wedding?
I'm getting married the day after Thanksgiving. I wasn't completely comfortable having a Friday wedding otherwise, since most people wouldn't be able to go to the church, but this way most people have off anyway and we save money

Re: Holiday Weekend Wedding?
I don't think there's anything wrong with a holiday weekend. I got offered April 6, 2012 from somewhere for a ridiculously low price but that was pushing it. It is Good Friday and the first day of Passover. But if it doesn't have any religious restrictions, why not!

Re: Holiday Weekend Wedding?
I'm getting married Labor Day weekend next year, we chose the Friday so out of state fam could have the whole weekend to relax & then travel home. You're absolutely right though, if people don't come, o well! I wouldn't worry to much about that though unless it was like Easter or Christmas wkend etc. Labor/Memorial ppl dont mind. A couple of places told us the holiday weekend is going to be more expensive but a few places just quoted us regular, so it depends where you go. We lucked out with our venue bc they gave us the same price for a Friday for any month. Good Luck!
