Is anyone having a holiday weekend wedding? We were thinking of doing the Sunday of Memorial Day, but I have to see if there is still a price differece. I never wanted to be one of those brides that people complain about 'ruining their 3 day weekend' but, I decided if we do the holiday weekend wedding, then those who want to be there, will be there :)

Honestly, with that kind of holiday, many halls charge Saturday prices for the Sunday,so be careful when you get pricing, it might not save you enough to be worth it.

we have a holiday weekend wedding...but it's a sunday with no monday off :( honestly, of all the people we invited, I've only heard from ONE person 'oh why are u doing it over new years weekend' and that person is still coming!
people will be there that want to be there and don't worry about ruining their 3 day weekend...they'll have another one the following year.

I am getting married Saturday night of Labor Day Weekend...and I did it because we have a lot of out of town guests and I thought having that Monday off would make it easier for them..theres lots of way to look at it...plus I look at it as an extra day I can take off from work for my honeymoon...

I'm getting married the Sunday of Memorial day! The price was similar to a Friday night.. I think we got a great deal!
As to people who say I am 'ruining their 3 day weekend' I say F'em. This is my WEDDING and if you aren't supportive, or think attending this amazing occasion will 'ruin' your weekend, then I don't want you to be there. So there! lol.

Re: Holiday Weekend Wedding?
I am getting married ON July 4th and I have had no complaints. Many people were excited about the idea. In fact,. I am worried that I will go over the number I wanted to keep the wedding at. I guess it just depends on the attitude of your family and friends. Some acquaintances kind of gave me a look when they heard, but they weren't invited anyway lol!
Plus, word of advice, people will find something to complain about or make drama over no matter what! So just do what makes you and your FH happy :)

Re: Holiday Weekend Wedding?
When we were looking into it one of the halls told me that they treat it as if it were a Saturday night because everyone has the next day off. I would still look into it though because every place is different.
Thats what I was thinking- they probably raise the price on those Sundays. I will have to see what they say when I finally get my butt to some reception halls!!
We're getting married the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, all the halls we looked at wanted to charge a Saturday price for a holiday weekend. But not the Old Field Club!! We decided on the spot because they had the date available and it was $20 cheaper per person.

Re: Holiday Weekend Wedding?
We're the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend 2011. There is sentimental reasons for doing so, but regardless none of our guests minded. By having it Saturday they still have Sunday and Monday! I say go for it. If ppl want to be there, they will no matter when you have it!
And there is no 'price break' if that is what you meant. Some vendors charge you more for it being the holiday! If you had it on the Monday itself you may save there. We paid PEAK prices for a Saturday evening wedding in May (nearly June). Its totally wedding season!

We are getting married the Sunday night before Columbus day. We got a great price, I couldn't say no!! If people don't want to come, oh well. The ones that matter will be there, I'm not worried!

Re: Holiday Weekend Wedding?
I have never understood why some people complain about Holiday weekend weddings...Your wedding is once in a lifetime and they can travel any of the other 364 days of the year...besides weddings are lots of fun!!! Those that want to be there will be there period!!

Re: Holiday Weekend Wedding?
You all think the way I do :) In the end, I think it will just come down to which RH we decide on and the price they give us. And as we all said....whoever wants to be there, will be there!
