hmmm I don't know exactly what the hollow is but the hollow-to-hem measurement is when they measure the lenght of your dress to your shoes/height. My dress has work to the very bottom so they're ordering it to my height. Maybe the hollow is the top of the dress because that's where the measurement started?
Isn't the hollow that area at the base of your neck? I know they do this when the bottom of the dress is ornate/detailed & they can't just take in the hem.

Yes...that's where they measured from for the hollow to hem...near the collar bone but in the middle
