ok so im looking for places to take pictures the day of my wedding its in October of next year. Someone recomended the Holtsville Ecology center, i cant find any pics of it on the computer... Anyone ever go there or take pics there and have pics that i can see??? Thanks

i've been there to see the animals. but i didnt think that were was any where to take the pictures. but not too far from there( i dont know how much time you have) there is the baynard cutting arboretum. its really pretty and when i went there, there were a few people taking pictures for their weddings. here is the website. I go there all the time and other than the greenhouse inside, can't really think of any other place. It used to be the long island dump. If you are looking in that area, check out the Bayard Cutting Aboretum. Absolutely gorgeous. It was actually written up today in Newsday as one of the top places to go leaf peeping.

The Holtsville Ecology Center has a pretty greenhouse for inside pics...but I would definitely pick a different place for outside pics.

I have been there so many times with my kids.... I would say that it is not a place for pictures !!!!!!!

My friend took her prof pics there and they came out great. The pictures are done in the greenhouse. It gives the effect of being outside. I booked them for my January wedding. Does the Bayard Cutting Arboretum have an indoor spot? I am so afraid it will be a bitterly cold day and we will have no where to take good pics without everyone getting mad at me! I dont have any pics, because they were just the professional ones, but they really did come out great.

I agree with the others... Its a fun place but not really a place for wedding pictures. Bayard aboretum is nice, we had our engagment pics there and always see brides and bridal parties there taking pics.

The Ecology Center Greenhouse is good for inside picture.
The Arboretum is beautiful but only for outside pics -- no inside spots.

I often go to see the animals there but iwanted to check out the green house it self to take picture there since our wedding is in March, and i wanted an inside spot. I would not recommend it, it was not all i thought it would look like inside and i had a foul smell. I'm far from very picky and it not even an option now that i went to look at it. I would sugget taking a drive if your undecided. We are still looking for an indoor location, the best ideas i have our hotels.

One thing to keep in mind is you do need a permit to have professional photos taken at the Arboretum. Contact their office for further info. I believe the fee is $50 and your photographer must give them a copy of their insurance etc etc

To be honest I was just there and had a great time but I just didn't think it was pretty enough in the greenhouse for the pics.

my aunt got her wedding pictures done there when I was like 9 years old (her junior bridesmaid) and I remember it being BEAUTIFUL!! And the pictures of course came out gorgeous. But that was at least 13, 14 years ago. lol.
I was thinking of getting my pics there also, before I saw my RH and realized that it was the perfect place for pictures. If I were you tho, I'd take a little trip down there beforehand and check it out personally. Make sure it's what you're looking for.
