Holy $#@! Our Guest list is HUGE!!!!

Another idea....do you see yourself still knowing this person 5 years from now?

Also try limiting other people's lists like your parents list, FILs list, etc. There is no reason for your mother's co-worker to be there if you never met her.

The only people that should be at your wedding are the ones that MATTER. People who know you well enough to appreciate being invited. If you think about looking at your wedding photos years from now and say 'who the hell was that guy?' then maybe he shouldn't be there.

It's a wedding, not a free for all. People should never be invited just for the sake of or just because you know them. I know a lot of people. But a lot of those people are not invited to my wedding.

OMG! You've given me hope too! Our guest list is up to 400, not including our family in Italy. I'm getting married in November like you did, and I've felt that everyone's going to come b/c nobody really goes away in Nov! Thank you, I can sleep tonight!

We were sweating for a while and had to ask the Crest Hollow to actually lower our gaurantee. We got cocky and thought we'd have no problem making 300 (we actually told them we'll probably have 350). A week and a half before the wedding we were only at 185! They lowered to 280 for us (from 300) and we ended up with 270

Your minimum was 300?!? Wow, that's a lot right? Did CHCC give you that number? Because ours is only 175.. we're gonna over that for sure but we're not telling them until we get a real number, maybe a month before.. what room did guys get married in?

I feel your pain. I am extremely frustrated with the guest list. When I first met FH he had no family to speak of. Than I see his guest list and there are 100 people on there. 80 of which I never met before. So now I am in the processing of trying to explain we can't have that many people especially when my immediate family is so big.

Basically I just want people I know there so if I haven't met them in the time FH and I have been together than they shouldn't be invited. Now I have to see how FH's family takes it.

No.. WE gave them that number!!! We had a number of reasons for that.

1. We had to gaurantee at least 275 to get the entire ballroom upstairs (I never can remember the name!)

2. We got an amazing price per person for gauranteeing the 300.

When DH and I went to do the menu, at that point we anticipated 350 ATTENDING only because how huge the guest list had grown since we had booked the place in Feb. In the end, we ended up with the 270 and the Crest Hollow was kind enough to drop our minimum to 280 for us.
