Well, it was a small wedding. And, they ran a tab per every item that we consumed. We easily cost them $140-$150 in what we ate and drank. We gave $250.
And, the person whom we are closest to did help us out a lot with our wedding (not financially, but with a lot of labor type things. )

I'm sorry, I cannot even begin to imagine marrying someone and ten days later saying hmmm, nope, gotta run now. They really don't deserve the money in my opinion. Friends or not - the gift was for a marriage... the marriage didn't even last a fortnight

If it was just 'anyone' I would say to take the gift back, but being that you ate and drank half of your gift, I would just let her keep it — especially since she was such a big help during your wedding. By the way, is this the friend that was going to have the small wedding and then a large reception later?

one of my best friends got divorced like two months after her wedding...i gave her a bunch of stuff off the registry and told her to keep it...of course, she got divorced b/c her 'DH' was arrested for wire fraud in both of their names that she knew nothing about...i think she deserved the pampered chef kitchen items!!!

OH NO! I have no idea what I would do in a situation like that. I would feel really awful for her.

The gift is supposed to be something for their future together...I don't think that 10 days really constitutes a future. I think they should return the gift.

I'm with ya on it, it was their choice to get married, and annulled. It should go back. And everyone knows, you don't get married to get payed back, and you DON'T have to cover your plate. JMHO

I think you should let her keep the gift, as someone else posted you did consume half of it, and she did help you out a lot.
