My boss insisted that I go home but I'm a work horse- I feel like I have to get these done and I don't like to fall behind.

I am SOOOO sick right now...

I have a sore throat so I sound like an old man, I have a stuffy nose so I sound like Kermit the frog meets old man, I have a cough, sneezing... THE WORKS!! Plus, my head feels like it has been placed in a vice.

I SOMEHOW made it through work yesterday (had a fever of 101)... Then, went home and slept ALL day and night (from 3pm when I got home until 7:30 this morning!!) so I do feel a little better from that- the Tylenol I took is keeping the fever down and here I am: back at work!

My boss has about 5 MILLION Christmas cards (lol) to get out and who's job is it to do them? MINE! So I can't fall behind in doing them... so that meant this morning I had to come in! I want to just DIE right now.

Vinny went to his doctor, pretended HE was sick just so he could get me a Rx!! I just don't have time to go to the dr. and do it myself-- plus, I need immediate relief!! So he is bringing Zithromax to me right now

Feel better soon! Also, ask Vinny to get you some Afrin nasal spray if you're very stuffy. That stuff works wonders but don't use it for more than a few days.

I hope you feel better, and don't want to sound like a scrooge or anything - but how did he get a prescription for an antibiotic if he isn't sick? Also, from your symptoms it sounds like you have a cold which is a virus and an antibiotic won't do anything for a virus except make bacteria more resistant the next time you are sick. You should never take anything prescribed to someone else and also should never take an antibiotic if you don't have a bacterial infection. If you want immediate relief, take some dayquil, or something similar. PLEASE don't take the antibiotic, I know I sound like a madwoman, but this is one of my biggest pet peeves!!

Anyway, feel better - take some dayquil, rest up, and have your FH bring you some chicken soup, not zithromax!

And I know that an antibiotic is needed b/c I have had this before. I get the same exact thing at the same exact time every year... with green snot. And green snot means it is a bacterial infection which means I need an antibiotic. Now, I did not want to have to share that info b/c it's TMI but I will now. I take a Z-pack for this every year and it always makes me feel better. I don't really give a crap about what is right or wrong in people's opinions- I just want to not feel like death anymore.

I also don't have the time to go to the doctor b/c I have way too much going on right now that I won't get into... So, Vinny went to his family doctor and explained the SAME symptoms that I have- Vinny is in Med school and he knows, better than anyone else, what I'm sick with. Furthermore, if I had to I know I could call my family doctor and have him prescribe me over the phone a Rx for this based on my history of getting this every year- but, he is not in today so I went this route instead.

It's just an antibiotic, it is not going to harm me or anyone else and I have no earthly idea why THAT is one of your pet peeves but whatever, I guess I can respect that. This is not something I want to bicker about and have a banter about back and fourth. You feel differently then I do about this which is fine but I don't need you telling me what I should 'never' do when it's my life and I'm an adult. That being said, thanks for the well wishes on getting better.

Sorry to offend.... its a known fact that antibiotics are becoming resistant to misuse/overuse, but if you want to take them thats totally your choice, I was just asking you to think twice about it.

Oh and your green snot sounds like it could be a sinus infection - sudafed works great if you are feeling a lot of pressure (I get them all the time!). Hope you feel better soon.

i know-- very gross... unfortunately i was questioned so i had to reveal that-- oh well, i guess everyone has been in the 'green snot' phase before.. blahh!!

considering the most i take the antibiotics is once a year- i highly doubt my body is going to build up a resistance. and from your original post it did not look like you were asking but more like lecturing and 'telling' me what to do... but that is all a matter of perception. it doesn't make a difference anyway... i feel how i feel and that's it.

and i'm not really interested in the subject so i'll pass on the links- i could give a shiit less actually- i just want to feel normal again and i don't care what i have to put in my body to do so.

oh and the doctor told vinny that whether it is bacterial or a sinus infection he would have prescribed zithromax either way- so i think i'll go with his opinion considering he's the one that graduated medical school and has been practicing medicine for over 25 years.
