I got 2 offers today out of 4 interviews that I went on....what are the odds???
And I still have about 6 more interviews scheduled for this week!!!
One is in the city and the other is about 20 minutes from my house. The city is willing to pay more and pays 100% for health insurance. The one by me covers 50% health insurance.
Both want to start me off on an hourly rate and then bring me up to salary. The city job said if I get another offer to let them know and they would make a counteroffer.
Both places want to know by tomorrow morning. Should I just pick one or keep going on interviews and tell them I need to wait?
I should say the salary difference right now is about $2500

I start tomorrow. They came back and counteroffered at $4700 higher than the LI job. The LI job was not budging.
That and I would be working from 9:30 - 5, which means I can catch the LIRR at 8:15. When I called the LI place back, they wanted me to work a lot of OT, so they figured that would justify my being hourly.
Also the NYC job said that I would be paid while I am on my HM. The LI place could not guarantee that. Also the NYC job's health insurance is through United, which is the one insurance I had that I loved. So I am thankful for that!!
I have been itching to be back in the city, because working on LI has made me incredibly lazy. For some strange reason I always took better care of myself when I was working in the city. Maybe because of all the stairs I have to climb in the transit system!!
I am so freaking happy!!! Finally I can stop running around!! Now I have to go order the BM dresses before I forget!!!

Janna, that's awesome! It seems like all the major factors pointed to the NYC job. The pay increase is great and the Honeymoon being covered is awesome. I'm so happy for you. Since you're so good at this, can you find me a new job now?

I am the QUEEN of job searching (just ask my family).
I have been through a few jobs this year, but mainly because I was working at places that were just bad.
What I do is this: post the resume on HotJobs, Monster and CareerBuilder. I check listings on all of those boards and reply to them.
Then I check the Newsday paper and the NYTimes online. Get some more fax numbers and email addresses to send my resume to and get moving on it.
Because I have a diversified background, I apply for a few different positions. Because of this, I always end up sending my resume to at least 100 places.

I'll be working on 57th and Broadway. It's 2 quick stops on the A train from Penn Station. I had timed it yesterday and it took about 7 minutes from Penn to 57th. Granted, I would have to pay for the Metrocard as well as the LIRR, but on nice days I would just walk it!!!
That and I would be home by 6:30. I would be willing to bet this would not be the case at the job on LI!!!
I'm on 53rd & 5th. Maybe we can do lunch when you're all settled in!!!

I am sorry that it gets tough like that but here is some insight. I am convinced my parents stayed married so long (49 years) b/c they werent together 24/7. Dad left the house at 9 and returned at 7pm every day except Sundays(holidays more hours) for about 40 or so years until he retired. They each had lives of their own apart and were able to contribute more to what they had together. Absence DOES make the heart grow fonder and gives you something (someone) to look forward to going home to.
