Re: holy friggin moly
Your wedding.... you and your fh make the call. Tell him this is what it comes to and its not worth the stress so you'll do it yourself. I would not suggest depending on her for anything at this point, esp. if she feels slighted by not inviting her friends. If it comes up again, be ready to give her a number for the cost of those people and ask for it up front...in a diplomatic way of course.

OMG I am soooo sorry you are going through this....
You know what you need to do is really exclude her from your plans. If she says she will pay for dinner.....then tell her no thanks we got it...even if you don't.
She seems to want ruin your day somehow...I wouldn't let her. If you can cover the cost of the rehearsal dinner, I would say pay for it don't wait for her. If she comes to you and says, I was going to pay for it...then just give her the bill.

I'm sorry you have to deal with that. It's an incredibly stressful situation. You don't want to make an enemy since she is your fh's mother, but you have to do what's best for the two of you as a couple and just hope that she will understand. Even if she's going to foot the bill for the rehearsal dinner, you should go ahead and book it then you can have some piece of mind that it'll be in place. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding and she didn't know she'd be responsible for booking it as well. Give her the benefit of the doubt (although I don't know the full story!) Let her know that you went ahead and did that and tell her that you really appreciate that she will pay for it and see what she says. Just a suggestion. Hope everything works out for you.

thank you SO MUCH for the advice and being such an amazing group of supportive and understanding girls... sometimes its good to just get things off your chest, but its even better when people tell you that youre not overreacting and offer some sympathy i feel much better now.

Re: holy friggin moly
ugh, that's ridiculous. i'm sorry to hear that... FH tells me to stay out of certain things sometimes so i know how it feels, but if she's this unreliable and if she's doing all these things to you, i say what the hell.. you might as well say something if she's gonna be a b*tch anyway! do what you need to do to make sure your day is perfect and to be as stress-free as possible, even if that means doing the RD yourself and paying for it and getting it out of the way.. i know money can be tight but i'd rather just pay for it myself if its gonna cause all these other problems.. sorry you have to go through that!

You poor girl! I think I would book the dinner myself and just try to make it as inexpensive as possible. At least this way you will be in control and she can't ruin it.

I'm so sorry you are going through this sweetie. My FH ended up canceling our wedding because of his mother and issues with the rehearsal dinner. As long as FH is backing you up, you'll be fine!
