Does anyone know much about Maplewood, NJ (schools, real estate, crime etc)?

There is a really nice part of Maplewood and a not-so-nice part.... You have to be careful.
The really nice part is super $$$$ and the taxes are insane!

My boss lives in Livingston, NJ which right next to Maplewood and in the same county. Livingston is SUPER expensive and taxes are very very high - higher than some parts of LI so I hear. Maplewood I hear is more diverse but still nice overall. Drawback is the very high taxes even for a small 3 br house.
