Homeowners Ins Question

Homeowners Ins Question

Hi
Just called Geico for a rate quote and they told me that since we are not living in the house within 30days from purchasing it, they consider us to be a 'risk' and our home to be 'vacant'.

Anyone else come across this issue?

We are buying the end of May and will be doing work on the house every single day from now until we get married in September. What is the big deal???? Should I just have lied to these people? I never knew this would be an issue.

Yeah you should have told them you are occupying the house.

Geico pissed me off. I just got my co-op insurance renewal and my policy went up like 10-20%. Both Vanessa and myself have our auto insurance with them and they don't offer any discounts for having both Home and Auto.

Might be time to switch companies. Maybe State Farm.

When I got rate quotes on our home now (this was 3 years ago) they gave such high rates. I think they did the homeowners through Travelers Ins. at the time (dont' know about now). I would try others and not say that the home won't be occupied! You never know if you'll stay the night sometimes!

GEICO quoted me $1700 for homeowners. I did make a mistake and say that the house had fuseboxes instead of circuit breakers.

We ended up with Met Life paying $560 a year. We got a good quote from State Farm too, about $200 more than Met Life.

My Aunt does Insurance... she is awesome, all her clients seem to love her... give her a call if you want... she definately works some 'magic' out for you... DCAP Insurance in Smithtown... ask for Stacy... Hope that helps!
