Re: HONDA CRV
Rachel we don't have one, but we looked at it and test drove it in July when we were looking for a new car. We liked it but it really didn't have enough pep. We ended up with a Mazda Tribute and we love it.
We just got back from a vacation in New England and put almost 1700 miles on it in one week. We averaged about 24 miles per gallon (better mileage when you're not driving on LI!!) and it was great driving it in the mountains in New Hampshire. It's about the same size and price as the CRV and I think a much better vehicle over all. The safety ratings were better for the Tribute too.

Re: HONDA CRV
My father just bought me one for a graduation (Touro)/birthday gift.
I have always driven volvos until now. He offered me the volvo s60 or the Honda CRV EX.
I chose the CRV EX. I get it for a few reasons - most importantly b/c it has the top rating for SUV's from consumer reports for safety- and top ratings for overall safety - even better rating than the volvo s60. It also has the top rating by consumers for reliability after 3 and again after 5 years.
It has one of the highest resale values after 3 years of the suvs.
I got it in satin silver with a carcoal interior.
I find that it has good pick up - we just drove an SUV out here and I have driven many of my friends cars and I think it has equal of better pickup.
Overall I am very happy with my car. FH has driven it a few times as well (an although afraid he will damage my new car) he LOVES to drive it as well.
If you have any other questions FM me.

Re: HONDA CRV
My friend Brian just got one for his wife, and my friend Helene just traded in her civic for one. They both love the truck.
I would recommend the CRV....if you are in the market for a small Sport ute. It is an excellent SUV, with great reliability and it is also built really well. If you live close to South Shore Honda, in Valley Stream....I can get you a deal. My friend is a salesman there. FM me for details if you are interested.

Re: HONDA CRV
Rachel, I heard they got poor crash test ratings...
Make sure you get side-impact airbags with whatever you choose! Brian and I watched a show about side impact crashes and now we'll never have another car without those airbags!
Happy shopping! Let us know if you need help with the house!!

Re: HONDA CRV
Lunatrek - those might have been the other kind of Honda's (pilots?) - My father is what we call anal retentive when it comes to cars and safety (they own ALL volvos ) But we looked into it and it has the highest rating for crashes according to consumer reports and other sources. It was even rated higher in crashes than the volvos - which are known as tanks
As to side airbags - the CRV's ex's come with side airbags. They also have one of the lowest rollover ratings out there.

Re: HONDA CRV
We looked at it at length this past summer, and it was one of our front runners...b/c it was affordable, roomy, and had excellent safety and reliability ratings. Friends of ours just bought one and they LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! It's a great car.

Re: HONDA CRV
I think it may have been an older CRV, but it was definitely a CRV. I just wanted to let Rachel know what I heard because she's a mommy-to-be! Safety is #1!!!

Re: HONDA CRV
Thanks everyone!!! I needed some feedback about the size ofr the engine. that was bothering me.
Funny about safrety is that I actually was involved in a rollover accident in a CRV but the older model so maybe there is something to what Luna is saying. the twins appreciate it!!!
We are definitely going to check it out next weekend. Thanks girls

Re: HONDA CRV
we have one and I love it! it has plenty of pep..I have a 97 ..bought it second had from a co worker of robs...good on gas..decent size trunk for a car of its size....easy to put a car seat in... Julianne loves it too!
And it has a picnic table stowed underneath the covering in the trunk/hatchback
The only thing I would do if we had the $$ or inclination is to replace the front seats. They are not comfy enough.. a drag on long drives..but good enough for our trips around town.
