FH and I have lived together for almost 5 years. We own a home...so we really have whatever we need. I will register for new bedding, bathroom stuff and some other nice to have stuff. But really...we dont NEED anything.
I was thinking of also doing a honeymoon registry. My Mom thinks it's tacky!

Re: Honemoon Registry
Somebody on here told me (when I asked this same thing bc my mom thought it was tacky) that there's a way to do a honeymoon registry with your travel agent so that people don't just donate money towards it, but it's more like they buy you the excursions, or a night's dinner, etc... That way it's more like a regular registry and not so tacky (I think it ends up being a lump sum of money when you get it, but it doesn't look that way when they buy it!)
I'm doing one, bt haven't talked to my travel agent about it yet. If she doesn't have something like that, then I'm going to help her create it somehow!!!

That's exactly what I was thinking. I wouldnt just ask people for 'donations.' I would create options...like a dinner, snorkel trip etc. That way it's just like buying me a toaster! : )

I figured some people would think it's just like asking for money...because it is. But I really would use it for honeymoon stuff...like a massage etc. The alternative is just registering for stuff I dont need.
I wish one of my friends had done in before...so I wouldnt be the first to test ot out! LOL

Re: Honemoon Registry
My friend had it at her wedding also. It was just like buying a gift certificate, not like 'hey, please donate $50 to my honeymoon in the form of cash!!' I think it can be done in a tacky way, yes, but you can also do it in a very tasteful way. What else can you do if you don't need anything? This is my issue too!!!

Yeah I know what u mean - it's just my personal opinion, I would have felt funny doing that. I see the majority think its fine - I wound up registering for new and better stuff and only a few things I thought I would like and wound up returning...

Most HM registries are set up like this. It looks like they are buying different excursions....it doesn't just ask for a donation.
ETA: I don't think it's tacky. We are doing a small BBB reg. and the HM registry. We have a house and all new things. We don't really 'need' anything. I put fine china and some other stuff on BBB...much easier to have a registry with the few things we want and a tastefully done HM registry than return a bunch of crap that I don't want or need, JMO

Not tacky at all... its not asking for donations, like a regular registry is not asking for gifts. Its simply giving people ideas of what you really need or want. I prefer to give a gift that will be appreciated. I've bought people gifts from a HM registry. Go for it.

That's what I was thinking. Not much different than asking for bedding, toaster etc. And in this case, it would be something I would LOVE and use. : )

Re: Honemoon Registry
I am doing a honeymoon registry, my bp thought it was a great idea. Like you we already live together and have most of what we need, we did register at macys for some new things. I did the registry at travelersjoy.com. People arent donating money they are purchasing excursions, dinners, or whatever else you decide to put on there. FM me if you would like more info

Re: Honemoon Registry
I voted tacky... sorry
I think it would be alright to hint to your MOH or mom that maybe they all go in on something like that for you. But have a standard registry for other guests. Not everyone is going to understand why you did it atfirst and I can imagine old school women thinking it is tacky.
Sorry and this is NOT TO OFFEND but if I were invited to a shower and saw that I would think they are going on a HM they can't afford and this is why that want guests to buy excursions, etc for them.
Please do not attack me this is just my honest opinion.
