Re: Honemoon Registry
i don't think its tacky at all, and we have one. There were 82 people invited to my shower and I have lived on my owen for 5 years... yes I wanted to replace my hand me down cookwear and plates, but there was stuff i didn't need and I had not interest in getting china or crystal or silver, etc. we are also not going on a crazy HM that is costing alot, so its not like we were trying to go on this crazy trip and ask people to pay for it.
Most people have loved the idea! we set ours up with massages, excursions, airfare, nights at the hotel in small incremements. you can take a look if you want! Christineanddanwedding.com

I voted tacky... sorry
I think it would be alright to hint to your MOH or mom that maybe they all go in on something like that for you. But have a standard registry for other guests. Not everyone is going to understand why you did it atfirst and I can imagine old school women thinking it is tacky.
Sorry and this is NOT TO OFFEND but if I were invited to a shower and saw that I would think they are going on a HM they can't afford and this is why that want guests to buy excursions, etc for them.
Please do not attack me this is just my honest opinion.
I wont attack : ) I totally see your point...and agree...the older people will definitely hate the idea. I think that's why I would also register at BBB.
I never thought about the point about people thinking I couldnt afford my trip. In reality, my trip will be paid off before the shower (have to pay in full 60 days before the trip). I'm just registering for excursions. Something to think about...I dont want people thinking I'm setting up a charity fund. LOL. Oh...
The smallest things stress me out more than the actual wedding!!! LOL

I dont think it's tacky - I am in a similar living situation and I've actually had people tell me they thought it was a great idea.
I did do a registry at BBB for some things, for those who don't feel comfortable and then set up a registry on honeyfund.com.

I think it's fine, but my mother and entire family think it's really tacky and like 'asking for money'. So you might have a little bit of resistance from some of the older generations.

Re: Honemoon Registry
Do it- we did a regular registry and a honeymoon registry, and people really seemed to like it, and we got much more than expected!

I agree...some older or 'traditional' people, no offense meant, will not like the idea and may think its wrong or tacky...however, it was also considered TACKY years ago to register for gifts in the first place. Its common practice now. We evolve, we get used to the trends. Look at these boards, a lot of things done 10 yrs ago aren't so common now. As for ppl thinking its a charity, don't go there. Every one who's ever been on vacation or should I say, paid for and planned a vacation knows you have to pay for it up front. Do it for you. The people you know and care about, know you, your situation and know it isn't for charity. Why register for things you don't need and already have? It makes no sense. JMO
