were any of you actually 'blown away' by the food??
did anyone get that 'OMG this food is amazing'
I want real answers...not the sugar coated answers and not the I need to defend my RH so im going to say it was amazing even though it was just good
it's OK if the food is Good or Great or Delicious etc
I just want to see and know what other people have experienced

Re: HONEST Answers Only!!!
I'm always honest with you Jenni... and everyone else, for that matter
Anyway, I haven't had a tasting yet but I've been to events at my hall... and that's why we chose it... the food is always phenomenal, amazing, people talk about it for days. Seriously, like food I rarely get to eat. And we eat out all the time.
Was your tasting not what you were expecting?

Re: HONEST Answers Only!!!
it depended on the dish. i thought the filet mignon was to die for. the chicken dish i thought was good but dh thought was amazing. we also had a shrimp and lobster crepe...some people said it was really good and others said the seafood was in too bug of chunks.
at the tasting i didnt not like anything...everything was good to fabulous. after that it just depends on your guests taste

Re: HONEST Answers Only!!!
We only had an OMG this food is amazing moment when we had our tasting at Thatched. Everything was absolutely incredible.
FH also had it when he went to CLM.
Our hall was good, but we didn't have an OMG moment over the food.

100 percent HONESTLY - YES!!!
I had been to a lot of affairs at my RH so I knew what to expect. DH had never been. For our tasting we went with my mom and the 3 of us stuffed our faces!! It was outrageous.
The only thing I didn't like was the salmon - but I hate salmon
I was blown away by our tasting.

CLMs food tasting was realllly good so I will give them that but we decided against them bc they are not one wedding/time
we never had any other tastings besides them, so i have nothing to judge it against
Everything up until the entrees was omg/amazing today

We did not have a tasting but Westbury Manor gave us a $100 gift certificate for their restaurant. I can honestly say the food was amazing!! I am really picky and I did not have one complaint.

i absolutely loved the food at the chcc. thats one of the main reasons we chose it. we didnt want to invite 200+ people for dinner and have the food be shi!tty... i wasn't blown away but it was delicious!!!

Re: HONEST Answers Only!!!
Yes.. when Fh and i went to CLM for the tasting we were honestly blown away.. the food was great.. some of the dishes were not as great as the others but the overall food was awesome! That is why we booked them. We had been to numerous weddings at other locations and werent so blown away with the food, and that is why we did not look at these places when it came time for us to book our RH....
Every place will have their specialty dishes and ones you might not be to thrilled withbut it all depends on peoples taste. FHs parents LOVED a dish FH and i did not care to much about.. but my mom loved a dish FHs parents didnt care for too much.. it all depends on everybodies taste.
But overall we were pretty much floored by the food tasting....

Re: HONEST Answers Only!!!
We were super blown away.
The food was rich, and fresh. It looked beautiful and tasted out of this world.
The only caveat I would def say was they it was small portions made to order. So day of (8 days) it might be different.

I have not gone for my tasting yet, but one of the top reasons we chose Flowerfield was the food at a wedding we attended in summer of 2008. Definitely the best food we've ever had- especially the filet mignon...I loved it, and I hardly ever eat red meat.

Re: HONEST Answers Only!!!
I've never been to my RH to eat and haven't done a tasting yet. But I know many people who have been to affairs there (including my cousin who went to a Bar Mitzvah there last weekend) and she raved about the food. I'm not too worried about it.

Re: HONEST Answers Only!!!
I LOOOVED the food at my RH when we went in for our private tasting.
They set up a table for 2 with candles and wine.
I thought the food was so good there were a few of the items that DH & I cleared the plate and they had to bring us some more.

Re: HONEST Answers Only!!!
Yes, we were both wowed, and it's saying something to wow FH.
I went to my tasting at NRC about a month ago. I will say going in, I was worried that FH would be disappointed somehow with the food - he has been a wedding snob throughout the whole process - so I was very worried.
As soon as we got there, all worries went away. The only complaint he has about the cocktail hour/appetizer food was that he thought the shrimp wasn't that big, I thought he was nuts because the shrimp were pretty big to me, and they were good. For the entrees, he loved the beef and fish, he didn't try the chicken. I wasn't thrilled with the chicken, but I wasn't expecting too. I don't eat salmon, so I didn't try that. But I loved the beef, and all the sides that came with it. Also, FH LOVED this one lobster sauce they had. I tried the mushroom sauce and didn't like it.
So overall, just two items that I didn't fall in love with, and one comment from FH. The food was much better than it was at a recent wedding I went to last summer.
I will say, I've already told family do not order the chicken, just because the other items on the menu are so much better.

Re: HONEST Answers Only!!!
Yes, absolutely. The food was a HUGE deal for me. I really thought I was into some other places until I saw/tasted the food and that was that. I have an uncle who is VERY particular about food, we went to a family party a few years back and he didn't eat one thing on the way out he said lets stop and get something to eat, from the moment on I vowed no one would say anything bad about the food at my wedding lol.
