sit around the fire for a little story with a moral at the end:
i was at DB tuesday, by myself, bc i wanted to try on a couple of dresses alone (and i found it!) and there was a group of girls who were next to me trying on dresses. there were like 3--so the bride, who was a very pretty girl, had this dress on that did not fit her well...she was a bigger girl and the thinner satin just didnt look right on her. all of her friends (and the DB lady) were telling her how beautiful she looked in it. i felt that she just didnt look at beautiful as she could, but she was so undecided bc her friends were like omg thats perfect...so she tried on my dress and looked wonderful in it...so i spoke up at that point and was like omg that is the one...i think she made the right decision in the end...
does anyone ever get that feeling when shopping for dresses with other people...i feel like sometimes they just say you look nice and dont mean it...but your brought them there for their honest opinion..
so, girls, the moral of the story is....if you are ever dress shopping with a girlfriend and she doesnt look 100% perfect, say something....shell appreciate it in the end

Agreed! this is something that is so tough especially when working at the store! I never say it looks beautiful if it doesn't look good...I refuse to lie to make a sale...not me...I will say I like this part but i think this could be better...or I jsut won't say anything at all and will ask 'Well, what do you think/'

thats what got me really mad...the DB lady was like oh even that size is perfect...meanwhile you could see the girls belly button outline...now im not sure of their commission, but this is the one time a girl has the chance to look like a princess...i wish she was just honest with her...but then when she tried the beautiful one on, the girl knew that was the one

Oh i agree! I always think honesty is always the best policy! When I tried on dresses the attendant was completely straight with me when I tried on dresses which is why i decided to buy from her.

i hate commissions...i think they are dumb. It bothers me so much...maybe cause i am going thorugh the wedding planning thing now and want the consultants where i got my dress to care about ME> not the money...wishful thinking lol.

And, this is the reason that I didn't take people with me. With me, it doesn't matter about other people's opinion because I will choose what I want in the end. But, everyone isn't like that. And, when people tag along you hope their are being honest.
I'm glad you spoke up and help her out.

Re: honesty is always the best policy
well the DB girls do get commission off their sales so they will tell you anything to make the sale. Thats what they did to my sister too. She is also on the bigger side and they were making her try anything and everything that she tried on they would tell her that she looked fabulous in it and we finally had to tell her, hey that doesnt look flattering on you, you can do better than that.

This reminds me of Say Yes to the Dress from a few weeks ago when that bigger girl wanted the mermaid dress and the salesgirl and her friends were telling her how gorgeous she looked and then the gay guy (I forgot his name) came over and practically told her she looked terrible.

Re: honesty is always the best policy
Ughhh that happened with one of my friends last weekend!
I tried on a bunch of dresses - really liked one, and was kind of ehh on the other one bc I thought it made my hips look huge. She was like NO NO NO IT LOOKS AMAZING! but I really didn't believe her, and said she liked that one way more than the one I liked so I started questioning myself.
I finally got to see some of the pics from when I was trying them on - and I was right, my hips look giant!! I'll try to post some pics later.

Good for you, I'm glad she had at least one person there to speak the truth. When I went shopping with my mom and MOH, my mother fell in LOVE with this Demetrios dress that was, like, 800 pounds with all the beading and stuff and I really hated it. But my mother was in tears, saying she thought it was the one and she'd buy it for me on the spot. Luckily, MOH was honest enough to tell me that I'd be crazy to even consider it. It made me look heavy, short, and it just wasn't me at all. I'm sooo glad to have honest friends!

Re: honesty is always the best policy
this happened to a girl who was trying on dresses alone at the salon where I got my dress. Of course the saleslady was telling her she looked great in everything, but then she turned to me and my mom and asked for our opinions. My mom told her which dress was clearly the best and even why the others didn't look as good. Hopefully that helped her a lot!

Agreed 100%! I always give my honest opinion no matter what. Of course, it is done in a nice way but I think being a true friend means being an honest friend.

I absolutely couldn't agree more. I went dress shopping with someone that I know wouldn't blow any smoke up my butt! My only request of her was to not be TOO mean!
