I don't think so... When I heard you could do this I thought it was a great idea.... I mean if people are gonna give u cash, some people might rather get u something, and ur gonna use ur cash gifts on a honeymoon most likely anyway, so why not let them know what they are giving you...

Re: honeymoon
In my personal opinion, it is, but that's just me. I feel like its basically asking for money with out actually 'asking' for money but from what I've heard, most people don't find it impolite...

Re: honeymoon
i think its a great idea. especially for couples that already live together and dont need as much stuff off a traditional registry.

Re: honeymoon
I didnt even hear of a HM registry until LIW. I think its something different, and easy to give to people. I don't find it tacky.

Re: honeymoon
i personally think its tacky to do a honeymoon registry...Thats like telling your grandma 'Hey grandma, my husband and i want to go for sensual massage lesson, can you pay for it?'
The honeymoon registry people give money towards extra on your trip, not the trip itself from what i have heard...

Re: honeymoon
tacky. you're asking for money.
what about the people that just get a picture frame or a serving spoon as a gift for the bride and groom? what are they supposed to do?

I liked the idea, but when I asked a few people about they said it was tacky...so I'm just doing a regular registry and hope to get moolah for the wedding

Re: honeymoon
i think it depends on the people you are dealing with. if i told my family i had a honeymoon registry my parents would probally crawl under a rock for the rest of their lives. it would seem like their daughter & son-in-law can't afford a vacation on their own.
with that said my family is also about keeping things the same. my brother paid for his own honeymoon & my cousin paid for her own honeymoon. i know my FH's family the aunts & cousins usually give a gift at the shower specifically towards the honeymoon. it would be a honeymoon basket. for a cousins wedding they bought a wicker basket & inside had all different tropical decorations, then had a card that said they would be contributing towards the honeymoon expenses & gave a check & then the bride & groom spent it as they felt necessary.

Re: honeymoon
I dont think it's tacky at all. Times have changes...and most people have lived together with their FH for so long...that they dont need anything. Why have people waste their money on house items you dont even need...when they can contribute to something that will be a long-lasting memory for you.
That being said...I would also register at store too...for the people that hate the idea : )
