I did an Alaska cruise two years ago and it was amazing!!
We flew on alaska airlines from Newark and transferred in Seattle, but went direct because the second flight was only 2 hours. We got their credit card because they have a $99 companion ticket and we had miles to pay for the upgrade to first class which was an AMAZING deal!!
We are flying through Seattle to Hawaii on our HM and staying at either the Marriott Airport hotel (my parents stayed there for a few days) or the Hilton by the airport. They both have a shuttle that picks you up at the airport if you don't want to rent a car.
If you have any questions about the cruise itself or any excursions, I have some of my info and am happy to share my experiences.

Did an Alaskan cruise in August and it was unbelievable. Absolutley amazing! You're gonna love it. Definitely do the excursion of the helicopter ride to the galcier and then dog sledding on the glacier - one of the best things I've ever done.
I stayed in Seattle for 5 days before the cruise. The Mayflower Hotel is beautiful - I didn't stay there, but heard it was great. And saw the lobby - VERY nice.

FH is from Seattle and recommends the Marqueen Hotel. He says it's a little pricy, but not SUPER pricy. It's an old hotel and is right next to the Seattle Center (where the Space Needle is). Good luck!!

Yay I'm from there! Ok if you're looking to stay at a nice place try the Hotel Monaco or the Hotel Alexis (FH surprised me with a spa suite there when I got home last week and it was amazing). I'm partial to the Monaco and I stay there when friends are in town and we stay in the city.
Otherwise the Sheraton is decently priced and its right downtown!
Let me know if you need any other Seattle suggestions or have more specifics, HTH!
ETA: The first two can be kind of pricey but I've always managed to find deals. Since you said you're staying several days I suggest the Sheraton. We had lots of fun at the Ace hotel in Portland, but we haven't done the one in Seattle, and then I stayed at one decent cheap no frills place in the city but I have to look for the name.

we stayed here and i totally recommend it! http://www.edgewaterhotel.com/
i think its also famous cuz the beatles stayed there and took a picture (something related to pop culture that i dont remember)
but look at the website, the vibe is like a 'cabin' but really nice, clean, great service...and walking distance to space needle and pike market place

I've gone to Seattle a few times for work. They always put us in the Hotel Andra. It is really nice and within walking distance to Pike Place and the Space Needle. Great Restaurant and big rooms!
