honeymoon during hurricane season?

So I was browsing through some vacation packages last night for our honeymoon (too early to book) but now I got upset because I found out our HM is during peak hurricane season in every vacation spot!! :( Anyone else having this problem? It looks like the only places that are okay during September are Aruba and Hawaii ..

As a teacher and always being forced to go away in July/August, I'm always stuck in hurricane season. I have to honestly say I've never had a problem. Maybe a rainy day or two, butbive been to many Caribbean islands (Jamaica, DR, Bahamas, Aruba, Turks, etc) during prime hurricane season and have been fine. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

To avoid this I'm going to Hawaii, but Aruba is also a great option. You can try Western Mexico (like Cabo) or Europe. Or, you can choose to travel later or just buy the vacation insurance. If you were going on your honeymoon this week you would have been OK so it could be worth it to take the chance and just buy the insurance.

I went to Aruba for my honeymoon and it was absolutely amazing so I don't think that is a bad option

that's a good map of a Caribbean to look at... to get the best weather possible during that time of the year, stay more south, like bonaire, aruba, and curacao. Trinidad and tobago and panama are also really good places to go during hurricane season because they are also away from the hurricane belt.

My travel agent recommends Aruba for those that are during hurricane season. Hawaii is incredible if you can swing the cost.

I have gone away mostly in the summer as well and have never really had any problems. Obviously, nothing is guaranteed, but it's not nearly as bad as they make it out to be. I'll be honeymooning next July as well! A lot of travel agencies offer insurance to help cover the cost in case something happens.

We took a risk going away last October. It was right after Sandy. It worked out. So we booked our honeymoon in October again. If something happens, I'm fine with just relaxing at home with my FH as long as we have power and hot water.
