Honeymoon Fears

My fiance and I were planning to go to Greece for our honeymoon. It is the only place I REALLY want to go. BUT, we are now scared to book it due to the impending war with Iraq. Are we crazy? What do you girls think?

I think if we let our fears overcome us, it will ruin our lives

Can I get a Amen!! Ladies we have to live our lives. I think of it this way, the people in Israel live their lives each and everyday. If we live in fear all that will happen is we never leave our homes.

Girl you better book that trip There will always be wars, we have to go on.

Jen I could not have said it better!!!

Re: Honeymoon Fears

There are a few billion people in this world. On any given day millions of them get on planes, and go places. They go thousands of different places...

A terrorist attack is just that, inciting terror in people, and part of this is instilling fear in the ability to travel freely as we are allowed to do. But just look at your odds, and realize that there is much greater a chance of walking down the street and getting pickpocketed, getting hit by a car, or getting a cold.

Do not worry about anything...you will be fine. Book it..and go!!

Re: Honeymoon Fears

I dont think you should live in fear at all but I dont think you should book your trip right now either. The reality is that the political situation MAY change in the next 6 months. Chances are it will be perfectly fine but you never know. I dont think you are at risk of a terrorist attack, more at risk of travel arrangements being altered like a cruise being cancelled or an important site being closed. So my point is that I suggest you a)wait a few more months before booking and b)take out the best travel insurance you can afford.

But definitely go abroad! We went to Italy and several people suggested we stay stateside because of the uncertainty in neighboring countries but there was no way we were passing up a dream trip. However, we did decided against going to Turkey (our original plan) after our cruise was cancelle due to political instability.

We are going to London for our honeymoon. We decided on it before 9/11, and being that England is 100% behind us on everything I would imagine they are just as much a target as we are here. I WILL NOT LET THESE PEOPLE STOP US FROM LIVING. I have always been fearful of flying( it's a phobia for me, not a terrorist thing), even before 9/11, but I always did it, because you just have to get anywhere within a reasonable time frame. I say go for it and enjoy. Like others have said, so many people fly every day without any problems. If it helps your nerves get something from the doctor, or start the festivities early and have a few cocktails before the flight to calm your nerves.. that is my play anyway
