Honeymoon Healp-St Lucia or Riviera Maya?

Now that American has cancelled the direct flights to St Lucia, I'm rethinking my Sandals Grande St. Lucia honeymoon.

We're looking at the Royal Hideaway Playacar in Playa del Carmen and the Royal in Playa del Carmen.

Does anyone have any comments on either, or have an comments on St. Lucia vs. Playa del Carmen?? It seems like Mexico has better nightlife, but is it too crowded?

Thanks!! This is such a difficult decision!

I was supposed ot leave on the 15th (monday). we switched from St. Lucia to Playa del Carmen yesterday. Although with American, there's no guarantee that will even stay a direct flight!

American flies direct on mondays to St. Lucia you didnt have to change!

Ok after I passed out...lol...I called Sandals and they said that America only flies direct to St Lucia on Sun, Mon, and Thurs. Other wise Sat, Tues, Wed, or Fri you have a lay over somewhere! Ok I feel much better. So my answer to your question St Lucia!

I wish that were true !! we are flying out of JFK to St.Lucia on a Monday and there are no direct flights after I think Labor day. Our flight was rebooked w/ a layover in San Juan
