Now that American has cancelled the direct flights to St Lucia, I'm rethinking my Sandals Grande St. Lucia honeymoon.
We're looking at the Royal Hideaway Playacar in Playa del Carmen and the Royal in Playa del Carmen.
Does anyone have any comments on either, or have an comments on St. Lucia vs. Playa del Carmen?? It seems like Mexico has better nightlife, but is it too crowded?

Yes some airlines do not have direct flights to St. Lucia since the end of March this year. Air Jamacia and American Airlines are two of the carriers that had to do this (mostly from political reasons from what I heard from the locals). There are still flights to St. Lucia on other carriers but you might have to switch planes.
DH and I went to Sandal's St. Lucia (Halcyon) and were also able to go to the Grande and Regency and it was simply a FABULOUS time!

I think she would if she cancelled at this point- depends on how Sandals handles it.

American didnt even tell me that they canceled the flight- I had to learn about it on LIW! The small deposit I made was to Liberty Travel, so they will just apply it to wherever I change to.
ITs so frustrating, I booked this last year and now I'm back to square one!

im going to aventura spa palace in riviera maya. i think we made a good choice...the price was excellent for 8nights, all inclusive, adults only. some pics of the resort in my album.

I just got back from the Riviera Maya and really enjoyed it. We visited Playa Del Carmen and loved it too. It wasnt far from our hotel.

Ok after I passed out...lol...I called Sandals and they said that America only flies direct to St Lucia on Sun, Mon, and Thurs. Other wise Sat, Tues, Wed, or Fri you have a lay over somewhere! Ok I feel much better. So my answer to your question St Lucia!

We are going to Aventura Spa also. I think it is a great price for an all inclusive. One of my co-workers was there last week on her HM. I can't wait til she gets back to get the scoop.

I was leaving the 14th as well -- they changed the fight to 5:45 am! with a stop in Miami. We are just going to deal with it since nothing goes direct at this point

I was supposed ot leave on the 15th (monday). we switched from St. Lucia to Playa del Carmen yesterday. Although with American, there's no guarantee that will even stay a direct flight!
